When I was 8, I used to think that consoles had feelings. I would often switch between my Father’s PS2 and my PS3 so they can feel love

Then a decade later we start wishing we could play them again even though there still in the closet

You never think about "this could be the last time I ever play this game, on this console" while you're playing them until one day you look back and you sold the game at a garage sale 2 years ago, having never finished the story.

My family never gave up our consoles.

My dad kept his PS1, PS2, SNES, N64, and Atari from when he was a kid. He played on them for a long time, but eventually stored them away.

When I was old enough, he gave them to me.

So, these consoles got to see a boy grow up, get married, and have kids of his own.

Now they get to see me grow up, too.

Oh man, now this is just hitting me in the feels. I’ve not played on my ps2 or wii in a while. Those two consoles deserve better, so I’m gonna play some games on those consoles again someday

I collect for the PS2, have a modded Wii, and my friends play Mario strikers all the time when we’re together. Old doesn’t mean bad. People seem to forget that.

I am 14, and I grew up with my aunt and uncle's old consoles from when they were a kid. To this day, all I have to play on is a gamecube, ps2, n64, nes, gameboy, ps1. And yes, i still play with all of them. Love them to death :)

This reminds me of the reason I collect video games in a weird way. Old doesn’t mean bad, there’s so many fun memories to create from any generation of console. I wasn’t around for the rise of the NES, genesis, and consoles before the early 2000s, But I know that there’s still fun to be had and memories I can still create with friends and family on these. I still play GameCube and gameboy on a nearly weekly basis because it brings a certain kind of joy that I can’t find anywhere else. It reminds me of a time before phones and videos and just sitting and playing games with friends, and having the moments where you just had to be there to understand.

To think the PS2 still had a good 6 years left in its lifecycle even after the PS3 released is a testament to how massive that thing was

Honestly, I miss playing on my ps2, I probably would have still played on the console right now.

I literally went back to my Nintendo 64 because of this, thank you for helping me retrieve good memories in my childhood.

I remember when I was cleaning out my closet I found my old Xbox 360 controller. We sold the console years ago and I thought the controllers went with it but it was still there in my closet after all these years just waiting for me to pick it up and use it again. It made me feel young again despite the fact I'm only 15.

My first console ever was my PSVita that I got in 2014 when I was 8 years old.

7 years after and I'm still playing on it. Abandoning it would be like tearing a big chunk off of my heart.

I 120%'d Spyro YOTD on my old PS1 a few years ago. Works like a charm. There are many other games I still wish to replay, but most discs are too scratched. But as long as some others still work, I'll never throw away my PS1. I have too many games I still enjoy playing to this day, and they've given me wonderful memories.

Makes me glad when I tried selling my Korean PS2 in the UK, when blockbuster was still around, they rejected it because it wasn't a PAL version. Hooked it up for the first time in a decade and it works just fine.

For my family, it's always been once we get the new console, the old console moves to the basement TV, then we can still play it. That's where our PS3 is right now, and it's where the PS4 will go if we ever get a chance to snag a PS5.

And we still have our Wii U hooked up in the living room alongside the PS4 and Switch, and a few years ago they let me hook up the PS2 in my room, and I held on to our old Wii for modding and have a PS1 and original Xbox in there. Used to have a GameCube but recently sold it because I needed the money, now an N64 takes its place.

Well, when I got my new console, I was happy but sad. I was sad because i was using my original console for 4-6 years. It’s pretty sad to get a new console and leave the old but I did pay my respects to it before I changed it.

Since becoming a game collector, it’s the opposite. I play my GameCube more than my PS4 nowadays. I was kinda sad, replacing my original model Xbox One that had probably 4000 hours between Forza Games, Overwatch, and GTA V, but at least I didn’t get rid of it completely.

First got the Wii when I was real little, loved it to death. Got the 360 not too long after, would constantly play Battlefield 3 and 4 there. PS2, would stay up late at night playing SW Battlefront, not a care in the world that I had 3 assignments for English due the next day lol.

I managed to put my Xbox 360 which I haven't touched since I got my one in 2016 to good use. I put it at my dad's house so whenever I visit him I can play it there

When I was 5 or 6, my grandma got me an xbox 360, and I played the hell out of it! In 2021, it sadly got a RROD, and me or others couldn'tfix it
Before that happened, my mom got another xbox 360, but that one sadly broke too
In mid-2022, I was trying to figure out how I could fix it, because i really wanted to play it for nostalgia. So I watched a couple tutorials on how to fix it, but nothing worked...

Until, I realized you can take out the hard drive. The xbox my mom got wasn't actually broken, unlike the one my grandma got, it didnt get a RROD, instead, the hard drive was broken (that sounds a bit confusing)
It took around 30-60 minutes to boot up, and it only took longer to boot up each time
So I had an idea
My little smooth brain decided to take the hard drives out of the xbox, and switch them
Thankfully, both the hard drives were the same shape, so I put the hard drive that was originally in the xbox my grandma got me, into the newer xbox 360, and did the same thing to the other
I went into the living room to boot up the xbox my mom got for the family, and surprisingly, it turned on with 0 problems
I was so happy
I put minecraft into the disk tray, and saw all my old worlds!


The xbox still works, but sadly, my very young sister cracked the minecraft disk, which was very heartbreaking, I'm still glad I fixed the xbox 360 :)

My modded PSP screen gave out on me 3 yrs ago (after my lil brother dropped it off the top bunk) and I've been meaning to get the screen fixed. Maybe it's time I do that.

Damn, I have a ps3, from 2009 and it will make his 12 years of existence but sadly, the PS3 is getting more and more crashes, I cant play cod bo2 with internet anymore. The only multiplayer game I have is Minecraft, with my 2 years old survival world

All these "I still play my Gamecube comments" really go to show the longevity of the Gamecube (and other Nintendo products) compared to similar electronic devices. Every smartphone or computer I ever buy is garbage after like 3 years, but not Nintendo's stuff.

Its such shame where were at with that particular generation of Console, you can Emulate basically any game before those consoles and after, but if you wanna play OG Xbox games or obscure PS2 and Gamecube titles you legit have to just go buy one.

They feel nothing cuz consoles are some mechanical devices with the technology to run a lot of games by just inserting the discs made for it. It can connect to your tv with just a few cables. Theres the controllers that you connect to your console so you can select games and other stuff like settings, the game store where you can buy games from there and dont have to rely on any discs and more! So the game consoles couldn't possible feel anything if you replace them.
