Moral: Rainbow Rocks (DPC #6)

Sunset was originally one of my least favorite characters in the show. To put it in perspective, I kinda like Diamond Tiara and Silver Spoon and even Angel Bunny, but Sunset was in Gilda's territory. She was just the most cliché bully you could ever think of. But this movie was like a slap in my face, and it made me so guitly for hating her. She's freaking awesome and very relatable. It really teaches the moral "forgive and forget", like you said.

Moral: As long as you hold hands with your friends, then play a song as a band, you are invincible.

I never got Rick Rolling, I find the song quite enjoyable when it was becoming a thing.

You missed the biggest moral: it hurts to be left out!

Sunset Shimmer really grew on me in this movie, i really hope we can see more of her later

Rainbow Rocks was such a surprise. I kinda joke that the Sunset Shimmer arc was a metaphor for the EG movies - nobody was expecting anything good to come from it, and then it turns out to be awesome.

OK I just came up with this, but you've got to admit it kind of makes sense.

I also like to think Sunset's element could be empathy. She can relate to others through her personal experiences, being a former baddie. She can help teach others how to be a better person through her empathy and understanding. Empathy can be quite powerful when used right.

I think Sunset Shimmer's element would be the Element of Redemption. While not so focused on friendship like 'forgiveness' is, it sounds pretty awesome.

I think another moral is have faith in yourself, when Sunset knew of the Dazzlings power and how Rainbow Dash was about to show her pony ears she gave a reason to the Mane 6 as to why she acted and how she felt, it took her a while to believe in herself and know what she should do

Part of the problem was Twilight's pride. Yes, the others (especially Spike) didn't help matters, but Twilight compounded them by relapsing back into old ways: focus ONLY on your part and nothing else.
Paying attention to the Big Picture and Don't pressure leaders is good, but how about 'don't lump everything onto someone else, offer assistance and make sure to communicate further to follow up previously established tasks.

moral: if you can't trust yourself it's impossible to trust others.
Sunset knew what was happing but since it wasn't too long ago where she tried and fail to takeover Equestria. Sure the others were starting to trust Sunset shimmer, but Sunset herself wasn't trusting herself.

Moral: Never expect expectation of what you want them to be.

Moral you will never know unless you speak. Twilight was going to, but didn't. because sunset made the call and twilight didn't want to let Sunset down because sunset was new two friendship which in turn lead into twilight letting the other down in turn letting herself down too.

I can definitely relate to moral number 6, being as a leader in class activities, most of my classmates depend on me, even if the teacher said it was their job.

Hey notion. I couldnt comment on the latest rainbow rocks evaluation so i tried here. At the end you theorized that human twilight would move to equestria via the portal. While it does create magical balance, it has the potential for temporal chaos. If there are two of the same beings in one universe it could cause serious chaos. While im sure discord would have the time of his seemingly eternal life, the rest of equestrian society might not enjoy this. I personally think that for full balance to be attained, both in magical and temporal status, the human sunset shimmer would have to move to equestria since there was one of each in both worlds to begin with. This gives magical balance through mutual foreign replacement as well as fills the hole in the equestrian universe left by sunset shimmers departure.

I think Sunset Shimmer's element should Trust. Think about all the things she's done in Equestria Girls:

-Didn't trust Celestia would help her get stronger
-turned all the students against each other (which caused them to break up into different groups)
-nearly destroyed the friendship between the main characters
-tried to take over an entire realm with stolen magic

All of this had to do with Sunset Shimmer's lack of trust towards anyone and towards friendship. In Rainbow Rocks, she had to earn trust from everybody she hurt (thought the Sonic Rainbooms were the only ones who trusted her completely). That's why the Element of Trust sounds more perfect for her as a character.

I kinda wish that the human twi and the pony twi would have interacted more than what they did at the end of friendship

The writers have to be planning something with Sunset shimmer. there is too much information. facts #1 Sunset betrayed Celestia. #2 Sunset was Celestia's student before Twilight. #3 Both Sunset and Twilight Thought Friendship wasn't need. #4 A major event happen to both of them(Sunset Betrayal, and Twilight +the main 5 vs Nightmare Moon. #5 Major change. #6 a full grown student vs a failed student. #7 Failed student redeems herself.

there is a pattern here. there are three main connects to the paths of Twilight and sunset. 1 event is just random. 2 events are a conquicadent. three events means a pattern. 4 events planned. and yes there is a fourth event. Rainbow rocks covers 3 and 4. They are no doubt planning something big. EG3 has to solve one problem before sunset can return. She still hasn't forgiven herself. That the next step in a redemption.

The first one is sunsets defeat second spark is Twilight asking the human 5 to help sunset out the third is sunset trying to get help The Fourth spark is the kitchen talk The fifth Spark is the realization. Sixth spark is be asked to help the seventh and final spark is sunset action. her stepping in was the last spark need to make a new element. In 3:17 did anyone not know that on the Elements of Harmony there was 3 missing of 3 of the points. So does that mean that there are 3 more elements? Maybe Sunset could be one of those missing elements!?

7 years old and it still works on me.

I said this in the Mare Do Well episode, but I'll continue it here: there's little to no character development. Only Sci-Twi and Sunset have a bit, and it's literally just: redemption, you're part of the squad. They literally destroy entire schools and no huge consequences. Power corrupted them and still no consequences. In an episode where a dude steals some jewelry, he gets thrown into jail. Consequences for him. The rest of the Five have no character whatsoever, they're just categories: you're fashionista, you're annoying party kid, you're sporty kid, you're the weird kid that has a farm, and you're the weird animal kid. In FiM they have traits that shine through: Applejack is extremely dedicated to her family (in Rainbow Rocks she is literally the start of all arguments). Rainbow Dash is a prankster with a huge ego, but works hard to become a Wonderbolt. Fluttershy realizes her purpose and creates a sanctuary for animals. Pinkie Pie helps Cheese Sandwhich realize that they both enjoy real laughing faces. Rarity is fueled by her passion of fashion and wants to make more boutiques. They all face challenges in their goals and things they care about, but what do the Mane 7 care about? Sci-Twi was the only character who had any sort of motive, and she trashes that in the same movie! If EG was modeled like FiM, it would allow for more character development - but even then, the problem with creating EG in the first place is that your goals have to be limited to real life - ponies have elite flying teams, you can build sanctuaries and boutiques wherever you want, and they are ruled by princesses. Plus, the ponies are adults - they're full grown. In EG, they're cliched teenagers, which limits the reasonable goals they can have and work to.

The one thing I liked about the first two EG movies is that they make some sort of sense. Sunset destroys a school, she has to help clean it up (although that wouldn't make sense in real life, she'd probably be thrown in juvie). Sunset does something evil, throughout the movie the school doesn't trust or like her. That part makes sense. What I hate about in the later two EG movies is that Twilight literally endangers lives - Sunset just mind-controlled them (the first move made the entire world seem so small). Flash isn't even wary of her. She doesn't face the isolation Sunset does - maybe that's because she chose to be good, but no one saw that. They only saw "I'm sorry." Imagine the funds it takes every time you have to rebuild an entire SCHOOL - Camp Everfree had funds, but they payed for it in the Crystal Gala but somehow in Dance Magic they're still raising money. Thank you for finding the end to this ugly rant, I watch too much Cinemare Sins, bye. (Writing as I go along is a horrible idea. More paragraphs.)

Seeing the first moral, like in the last paragraph: I don't blame the school for not liking her. She mind-controlled them. She destroyed property. She bullied and tormented them for a long time (plus the fact she should be older than Twilight considering she left some time before Twilight was accepted, or at least she was older than a filly), and now that she's so-called "reformed", they have no reason to believe she's not going to turn back into the way she once was. The human five seem to be her only friends (Cinemare Sins) but she's not even in the band, but she can sing and play - the only people who accept her don't even trust her enough to be in their band. (And I don't blame them - redemption is good, but she didn't deserve to be in the band because she didn't prove her dedication until the end of the movie) You can't forget how terrible a person's actions were no matter how many times they apologize. Sure, you might forgive them, but you're still not forgetting what drove them to that state. In the end, this is like a Princess Spike Cinemare Sins episode: people who do bad things in bad faith then only apologize when it blows up in their face are the worst kind of people. Sure, Sunset is truly remorseful and it's Spike we're talking about, but still - Starlight is like a better version of Sunset - (and while I hate the fact that Our Town loves her just because she lowered her head during a song) she becomes the sensible one, a mediator, or the one with reason. When Twilight's school fails, while everyone tries to cheer her up, Starlight goes straight to the point - "I'm here to tell you why it failed." She's using her past experiences to help others. Sunset only shows this once, when she "reforms" Sci-Twi, but even then, it makes Friendship Games feel like a repeat of the first rather than it being like a huge pivotal point in Sunset's life - since she made her choice before. In FiM, friendship is magic. It makes sense - they're magical rainbow ponies full of magic. But then in EG, how does it work? If the Mane Six pony up during music (why it makes no sense) or when they express the best part of themselves (honesty, laughter, etc.), does this mean that the rest of the world is just terrible at it? How in the world did Lyra and Bon Bon not have this come to them? And the problem with EG is that they limit a trait to a person. In FiM, the ponies have their most prevalent trait - kindness, generosity, etc. It's their most prevalent trait, but they have more - like firm Fluttershy, or ego Rainbow Dash. In EG, it's their only trait - and if Sunset is redemption, is that the only thing she can do? The entire Mane 6 forgive Sci-Twi, not just her. She just brought her back to her senses - what anyone would have done in Sunset's position. Their "traits" are there to progress the story. And Cinemare Sins time - if they only express their "true part" of themselves (the elements augh) to pony-up, does this mean that Fluttershy was sarcastic, or Applejack was lying? In FiM their elements represent them getting through hard challenges - when presented with something, they have to chose their element or their own desire. Is human Rarity generous because she made a bunch of clothing and gave it to her friends? No, she isn't, that's what shops do. Is pony Rarity generous because she had to sacrifice part of her beauty for someone else? Yes, she is, because some ponies in her position wouldn't have done that. She cares about her beauty, so her sacrifice was generous. Is human Rainbow Dash loyal because she saved Sunset from a monster? No, she isn't, because that's what's called basic decency. Is pony Rainbow Dash loyal because she gave up flying with elite ponies who would let her join their team for helping her friends? Yes, she is, because this was something she really wanted, and selfish people would have agreed. Is human Pinkie Pie "laughter" because she threw away school-regulated food and turned on a disco? No, because that's what someone who doesn't understand what rules are does. She isn't making anyone laugh, she's being a burden to the school because she's probably not supposed to do that. Is pony Pinkie Pie "laughter" because she brightened up her friends, who were scared and worried? Yes, she is, because she made ponies laugh and helped them face their fears and dispel them. Is human Applejack honest for showing the rival team how to shot an arrow? (Honestly, honesty is so weird . . .) No, she isn't, what the heck? She probably shouldn't be doing that either. Is pony Applejack honest for telling Twilight it was okay to let go during her doubts? I don't like how this one was presented, and that's more like trust than honesty, but she was actually being honest and helped dispel Twilight's doubts. Is human Fluttershy "kindness" because she showed Twilight that she wasn't following the rules by having animals at school? No, she isn't. Not only did she show a different school that she couldn't follow the rules, it just shows that she likes animals. It's the problem with all the EG displays - they're all about their hobbies and such rather than actual good traits of the elements. Is pony Fluttershy "kindness" because she helped a manticore at the threat of her life? Yes, she is. A coward would back away and run, but Fluttershy chose to help the manticore. Somehow I'm less than 2 min into the video and this is the comment I have made.

Don't be too judgmental - I agree, but I think it was Rainbow's fault. Although the entire "stall spell" was filler (Twilight literally says near the end, "oh, I don't think it matters!") and the Sirens knowing about Sunset should make them know about Twilight, Rainbow knew she wasn't supposed to pony-up, yet she was selfish and let her ego take control of her. Another moral could be, "Remember to keep your ego in check" or something like that. Rainbow's entire song was focused on her ego, which caused both Sunset to become embarrassed when she did the most she could. The suggestions the Mane 6 threw at her were too harsh. She had no time at all and was driven by fear for Rainbow's mistakes meaning actual danger. Rarity saying "give us a chance to solve the problem" is horrible. It implies she thinks that Sunset is incapable of handling things, unlike the Mane 6. Most of the suggestions would take too much time, plus Rainbow's guitar isn't even plugged in. How would that work (plus somehow APPLEJACK plugs in her BASS in Rollercoaster of Friendship? And the fact there and in Rainbow Rocks they wonder about which song to play when in RR they've already played multiple songs in the competition and spells not working in EG (as proven by the awkward "FRIENDSHIP IS MAGIC" moment), plus in RoF they play a whole new song entirely)?

I don't care what year it is, that never gets old.

I have a theory and hear me out on this: While I believe that Sunset is a human replacement for Twilight as the element of magic, what if she is the element of Forgiveness? Humans are different from ponies and they fight with friends or people more often then not and at times need forgiveness, so shes not only a replacement of magic but no also forgiveness, the proof would be at the end of Rainbow Rocks, Sunsets red beam doesnt over power Twilights but rather joins the others beams maybe to symbolize the discovery of a new element. We could say the same for Starlight as she has also now become such a big part of the Mane 6's life, however since in the pony world forgiveness is more of a token that leads to the elements, she isnt or maybe not yet as become an actual Element as the ponies dont need it as much. I like to believe that Sunset and Starlight are like the alternate versions of each other in other worlds but Sunsets element of Forgiveness and Magic are more needed then with Starlight. But that's just a theory, A P O N Y T H E O R Y. Thanks for reading

I mainly agree with this moral... but one thing I disagree, and one I'm not sure what You meant... You say "Don't be so judgemental"... and I'm not sure if You said about this what Sunset did(and BTW I think in this situation she didn't have time appering of ears was rather quite quickle and she act... well almost instinctly) or reaction of others. If this second i agree... if this first... well I'm not sure what's judgemental in it. And about judgemental itself... i think that judging isn't wrogn itself. We just have to remember that we can(or rather should) judge others acts(of course not hastily, but we couldn't be indifferentabout this what others do) but never judging people. I thing You get what i mean - it's like in this old, good catholic rule: hate sin, but love sinner.
And about first moral... You wrote forgive and forget. I think that the second part is wrong. I don't mean that we should still point out the old mistakes, but we shouldn't forget about this what we forgive. Old mistakes can be good lessons, and sometimes remembering could be helpful in future(like Sunset's help for Twilight in Friendship Games for example). The past don't define us but forgiveness don't make past events dissappear. It just mean that we have no longer any grudge about it.

Here is MY opinion. Read or not, I don't give a shit about yours so don't bother arguing.

Why I do not like this whole 7th element thing:
Well lets start out basic. These are side stories having nothing to do with the show in itself, giving a 7th element would mean they'd have to have that 7th element all the time. Even though the elements of harmony aren't really good of use for protecting Equestria, they still connect them. Also pony world and human world are two different things, the main 6 (5 in this case) wouldn't know what to do with a new element, especially them being one THEY didn't spend time with to trust, seeing as last time they saw her she was evil. Though Twilight may explain the situation to them, its not saying they would now trust Sunset Shimmer now. "The element of forgiveness" well it would be okay.. if we knew about it in the beginning, and the whole plotline was "well who's the 7th element?" and like Sunset appears and befriends them, then the whole take over Equestria happens, and when the forgiving happens Twilight sees she is the 7th element like she did with the rest. I could see this and it would make for a great (long) fan fiction, even though I still do not like the thought of a 7th element.
