MLP always had the ability to talk about issues that kids/adults may be going through without beating the viewer over the head with it. This was a great way to talk about people growing up with separated parents.
I felt so happy that Scootaloo finally got to feel what it was like to fly, but also sad because I knew it wouldn't last. Someone really needs to give her her own amulet so she can come back and become a seapony again.
@@ravenscroftraven1786 I'm talking about her diplomatic realationship with their community. She probably wouldn't be welcomed on their village after that incident, the queen wouldn't allow it. Even if she doesn't make a fuss, she still can prohibit it. She might still have a personal grudge against Twilight, but she at least alows her to come, and the griffs are excited about her visit.
Do you see Queen Novo here? Yes, Terramar's family felt comfortable sending their daughter to the school in the midst of their external-circumstances-inflicted divorce, perhaps to spare her their conflict (Terramar says she's officially living with her father, though, which makes sense given both of their personalities about stairs).
But Twilight herself was only seen by a few guards and royalty, and immediately expulsed. And Novo isn't one to cause a panic, she very much seemed the type to keep things quiet for peace. As Dragon Lord Ember so eloquently explained, there's lots of purple ponies with shiny things on their rumps, so even a secondhand descriptor wouldn't be much help: she was introduced as a princess and a teacher, not a returning rogue vigilante.
When the children went missing in School Daze, the following people showed up: Community Leader Grandpa Gruff (no higher position), King Thorax (no higher position), Prince Rutherford (no higher position), Dragon Lord Ember (no higher position), and one military salaryman undergoing a divorce who is doing it behind their leader's back ("Queen Novo WILL hear about this", as in, she hasn't yet.)
...I don't think Novo is so quick to forgive. I know the REAL reason is her voice actor is super expensive, but nothing in-universe explains why the princess is met with rulers of all countries in School Daze... except hippogriffs, whose ruler won't even deign be in the same room as her even in this one.
@@Nick-ty9us Yeah! I remember her voice cracks. She sounded pretty young but then she began to sound more mature as she got older, she still sounds young though.
@@moonescentpearl she did in fact have a very woody woodpecker voice in the early seasons then she started to sound like she would for the rest of the series as Carle got older

Back in the episode “Triple Threat,” I predicted that the CMC would be summoned by the map at some point and I couldn’t have been happier with myself with this accurate prediction.
I was very excited to see that this episode would take us to Mnt. Aris and Seaquestria again because I had hoped that we would explore more of this land now that the hippogriff’s are living above the surface again. Also, I like the exposition on how each citizen has their own fragment of the magic pearl that allows them to transform. I do like Silverstream’s family members by the way, they are nice bunch. Plus, I like this story’s premise too.
The CMC song in this episode is one of my top favorites. With how much the music has evolved in the show since the movie’s entry, the songs in this season have sounded like they are of movie quality (that includes this particular song).
So in conclusion, “Surf and/or Turf” is one of my top favorite S8 episodes and I like your reaction as well.
Fun Fact: In the MLP comics long before this episode aired Twilight & Queen Novo meet again and Queen novo brings up twilight trying to steal the pearl.
Fun Fact: Scootaloo wasn't sung by her VA in this episode; the difference is not extremely conspicuous, but I noticed it myself when I first watched the episode before looking the song up to check. I don't dislike the new singing voice, it just feels a bit off.
That was a good world building episode. The moment SB silenced teramar after he said the word problem and she said whats that wonderful sound I though she meant the word problem XD Keep em coming man. If you keep it up you will be done with series in no time...
I get why they had this as a CMC episode (since it was about Terramar finding his place), but it didn't make sense why the map called them there. Twilight was the one who solved Terramar's problem - the CMCs just made it worse (or at least Sweetie Belle and Scootaloo did). They should have come up with a way to have the CMCs go there without having the map send them there.
Such a great episode and very serious topic. I think the only way it could be better is if his parents had some sort of actual falling out even a minor one to keep with the whole map is for friendship problems thing. Although it handled the topic very nicely. and i suppose this could still technically be considered a friendship problem, just a very different kind. also its probably more realistic for someone with that issue to learn to live with it and enjoy both sides than the very impossible nature that it'll all magically solve it self and their parents get on good terms.
The season 8 premiere happens days after the movie but the school takes months. It is hinted at by the time the Cmcs are summoned by the map it almost been a year.
16:42 - I would strongly recommend against splashing in the foam. Seafoam is comprised mostly of decomposing animal waste and dead stuff. Oh, and sea turtles definitely are not tortoises, Scoot. XD
Blame the writers on that that’s like saying that Goku is so annoying The voice of Goku was seriously the voice of Stewie Bell’s father James Colette Who voiced various characters throughout my little pony
I didn't like how Sweetie Belle's character was made into a total bitch, having total disregard for what her friend Scootaloo loves, the only indication shegave that the past she's a bitch other than in for whom Sweetie Belle tolls, when she intentionally almost ruined her sister Raritys career.
I love this episode and I really like the world building this season. We've had world building before but season 8 focuses a lot on it. Also you can see the Equestria map on google if you want.
