Despite smooth and poppier moments, 'Wings...' it still offers something more adventurous and difficult than mere 'smooth jazz' or AOR/radio-friendly melodies, and its powerful melodic elements are never at the expense of tightly composed predominantly instrumental moods that still crackle with spark and finesse. The band begins by dashing through the fidgety and up-tempo killer funky pop-rocker 'You Are Light', home to nimble and frantic instrumental dashes, silky harmonies and an infectiously appealing spiritual chorus that will be in your brain forever! 'Marshall Dillion' is a brisk fusion instrumental burst backed by a peppy dance-like rhythm, then a sleepy reflective vocal piece called 'Blue Lake', one of the featured albums, reminiscent of Perige with his dreamier foggy moods, where bass duels with piercing electric guitar themes grow in back and forth intensity murmur. 'Beauty Dream/Beauty Flame' holds gentle but stirring instrumental melodies via a mysterious distant flute, gentle acoustic touches and shimmering restrained piano reflections, all together bringing a dusty mystery resembling an Eastern illusion. The other side opener 'Golden Sky Boat' is another up-tempo funk-popper with addicts and artfully repetitive huge saxophone themes and aggressive bass grunting aplenty. 'Loveliness About You' is, unsurprisingly with that title, a sparkling ballad that gently resembles more elegant and honest Beach Boys songs in fleeting little moments among some alternatively reflective and sultry saxophone reflections and sighing group harmonies. 'Inner Star' unleashes plenty of quick red-hot electric guitar solos that break through witty and almost whimsically cheerful flute breaks and soulful vocals, the song almost sounds like something out of a Santana band from the 'Borboletta' era, and 'Last Silence' is the final reflective jazzy come-down of great taste and restraint interspersed with fluttering Moog thrillers. For some, smoother or more open romantic qualities will be too cheesy, and the music is too worried about marrying funky pop sound to instrumental tracks to perhaps fully impress more intense jazz-fusion followers, but 'Wings of Love' offers plenty of thoughtful and energetic music throughout the disc, topped with sublime vocals, and that makes for an elegant LP of a talented group of musicians. To je manje Brand X , ponekad puno zabavnije i sanjarnije kod drugih s prekrasnim vokalima bez daha. "You are Light" je vrhunski otvarač koji samo ostaje čvrsto na stazi pružajući niz nezaboravnih melodija , s tonama oboe, flaute i saksofona , križajući mačeve s Rusticinim nevjerojatnim fretworkom. Tu je lagana Mahavishnu / Santana vibra ovdje , ovaj rekord će se dobro udružiti s Borboletta / Dobrodošli / Caravanserai ili Vizije smaragda izvan / Ptice vatre. Izuzetno originalno snimanje , vrlo različito od prethodne "Vimane" ili sljedećeg i razočaravajućeg "Sun Cityja". Jedinstveni prog dragulj koji zaslužuje više pozornosti i errr ... CD izdanje, molim. My vinyl copy is almost fossilized by now, so I'm continuing my vigil. With the impressive Percy Jones and the incredible Michael Walden replaced on bass and drums complete unknowns, who would have expected Wings of Love to parallel the brilliance of "Vimana"? The core remains: Santanesque Corrado Rustici, Elio D'Anna's suave saxophone and wood wind and Renato Rosset's liberal use of Fender Rhodes among other keys. It's less Brand X , sometimes much more fun and dreamy with others with breathtaking beautiful vocals. "You are Light" is a superb opener that just stays firmly on the track by providing a series of memorable melodies - with tons of oboe, flute and saxophone - crisscrossing swords with Rustic's incredible fretwork. There's a light Mahavishnu/Santana vibe here, this record will team up well with Borboletta/Welcome/Caravanserai or Emerald Visions Outside/Birds of Fire. An extremely original shoot , very different from the previous "Vimana" or the next and disappointing "Sun City". A unique prog gem that deserves more attention and errr... CD release, please. With the impressive Percy Jones and the incredible Michael Walden replaced on bass and drums complete unknowns, who would have expected Wings of Love to parallel the brilliance of "Vimana"? The core remains: Santanesque Corrado Rustici, Elio D'Anna's suave saxophone and wood wind and Renato Rosset's liberal use of Fender Rhodes among other keys. It's less Brand X , sometimes much more fun and dreamy with others with breathtaking beautiful vocals. "You are Light" is a superb opener that just stays firmly on the track by providing a series of memorable melodies - with tons of oboe, flute and saxophone - crisscrossing swords with Rustic's incredible fretwork. There's a light Mahavishnu/Santana vibe here, this record will team up well with Borboletta/Welcome/Caravanserai or Emerald Visions Outside/Birds of Fire. An extremely original shoot , very different from the previous "Vimana" or the next and disappointing "Sun City". A unique prog gem that deserves more attention and errr... CD release, please.
