I've always loved strings and music which features them so so much. They bring such emotion and raw humanity to a piece in my opinion. Something which I also hear in every one of your songs, Dodie, and when I heard you were going to be using more strings, not only that but a full string section I was so happy. It's true that all the little fades and emotion each player brings is something that can't be created with MIDI, theres something just so bare about a human player feeling the emotion themselves that software can't. And this extended string section in Rainbow had my heart wanting to explode with just the swell of emotion in my chest it was so gorgeous. Thank you thank you thank you.

This kind of stuff reminds me of why I wanted to start playing the violin 14 years ago. I think it’s because it’s one of the most beautiful instruments. Dodie does such a good job at arranging for all stings. The emotion that comes through is so powerful. You can really hear her musical experience and expertise. She’s so fucking talented that it makes my head spin. I admire that so much. I aspire to be that good at anything one day.

At the risk of sounds extremely cheesy, it’s been so beautiful watching dodie’s progression with YouTube and more specifically her music. She has always been able to show her genuine love of a project, letting it through in such a beautiful way when she creates something.

This video shows why I love dodie so much, her music helped guide me through some very crazy parts of my early 20’s. She allowed me a space to be open and encouraging but also sad and lonely. These were lessons that made me to be the person I am today. I am forever grateful to her for her music.

I’m so happy to see her find such joy in her music and I can’t wait to hear it.

It's a cool thing when you write something, and work out all the harmonies you want, and arrange them for specific instruments, and copy out all of the parts, and pass them all out, and those people play what you wrote. And you're like "I've heard all of these notes hundreds of times over, I know how it all goes, how it's all supposed to sound" and yet... finally hearing it played by a group of real human beings -- after all that time and effort -- is like being able to hear it for the first time.

It's totally cool. Nothing else like it.

There's an odd amount of catharsis from listening to Dodie pieces that have a set of string accompaniment alongside them. It's as if the nature of music itself wholeheartedly agrees with her and they work to build each other up.
