@vintagevideogamegeek The newest Star Trek movie existed in an entirely separate universe from any of the previous series. Evidence for this is that the film broke every established rule about transporter technology, this is because they were operating under different physical laws. This means that no events taking place in the 2009 film could effect canon because it was already in a different universe to begin with.
