Yes. I did indeed write the virus. This was back in 2010 when I was a senior in highschool. It was originally written to be used as a prank on a classmate mid-class. It was written by me on my old laptop that I used in school. A Dell Inspiron E1705 from 2007. This was all the way back in late 2010.
When I read the comments here: It gave me inspiration enough to go dig for that old laptop. After looking for a while (I'm a tech hoarder. So there was some digging required), I found it!
Unfortunately the laptop died years ago when i spilled a can of energy drink on it. Luckily though: The harddrive is still intact, and it still has the source code for this virus laying on it. Untouched since 2011. And because I happened to spill that energy drink on it: The laptop was able to sit in storage, untouched for all these years. It's a time capsule, and it for sure gave me the craziest nostalgia trip of my life!
Originally it was never meant to be put on the internet. But after sitting on it for about a year (My memory is a little faded on this, so I could be a little off on the timelines here): My friend who I pulled the prank on, though it was hilarious, and he thought I should release it to the wild. So I did some final "changes" on it, recompiled it and released it to the internet. About a year later, the reaction videos started showing up on YouTube. Me and my friend had some good laughs watching those videos together.
The program was written with Visual Basic. And I used the "Visual Basic 2008 Express Edition" IDE to make it. An abomination of a programming language I would not even consider for my projects nowadays.
I would love to share the source code with you all, and preserve a memory from my very early days of software development indefinitely. The days when I barely knew what a compiler was.
However: Although the program really does nothing malicious or destructive: It's still technically considered a virus. Therefore: I would ask @Enderman for permission before I post any links on here. So @Enderman, if you read this: Please reach out to me if your interested.

So, question from a virus newb: If someone's computer received this virus, they could stop it with F12 and that password? Or is that an option only for you?
BTW, I was directed here from #Scambaiter who used your virus to troll scammers in India. It was a beautiful thing to watch. I just hope people don't use this for evil!
@@ROCKaholic though you'll need to use a decompiler first. I personally used DotPeek. because you can't exactly edit an executable file, so what you do is use DotPeek to get the source code, then you move that to VSC
