It was kind of amazing how much stuff you called and kept calling ahead of time during this. I don't think I've seen any other reactor work things out so fast. Of course, I also didn't when I first watched this.
Anyway, it was great reliving this series through your reaction vids. To me it's by far one of the greatest things the fandom has produced. (The others would be the Lullaby for a Princess music video and Friendship is Witchcraft.) I forgot it about this series but it still manages to hit me in the feels many times, such as when Gilda confesses or when Phoenix defends Sonata. I got used to thinking only Lullaby still affected me, but apparently Turnabout Storm does as well. Thanks for making these vids and happy to see you enjoy it as much too!
So to explain the ending a bit since it's not spelled out (and since it's my favorite part): The person Celestia was talking to at the end was Mia, who you see in Phoenix's flashbacks, and as a spirit when Phoenix is defending Sonata.
The idea behind the ending is that when Rainbow was accused Celestia tried to summon the greatest defense attorney ever, and she did, she summoned Mia. Mia however being dead wasn't exactly in a position to do it and so she told Celestia about Phoenix. That's how Celestia knew so much about him and that's why Celestia pauses when she's talking or says kinda odd things, Mia is talking to her.
And yeah, it certainly has more impact when you know who Mia is. Her death being a shocking beginning to the games and her continued presence/Phoenix's continued respect for her being rather touching at times).
I'm sure you pieced all that together yourself but I still wanted to say it. Like I said, it's my favorite part
Every time it panned to Trixie’s sad face oh my gurhfnfkrnf I just want to give her a hug.
I like how this was recorded before Trixie’s redemption in season 5, because I’m sure you’d react a lot more differently if it was season 8 or 9. I love how quick you are to deduct things and let your own imagination go through too.
I couldn't say much earlier, because I didn't want to risk spoiling anything, but you were way ahead of Phoenix most of the time. I've never seen someone make so many accurate predictions when reacting to this series. Out of all the reactions to Turnabout Storm out there, I think yours is now my favorite. Thank you for giving this series a try, I know many people are thrown off by its length (about 9 hours total), but I'm glad you decided to watch it in full.
Also, I've rewatched this series many times already, but I still get goosebumps during the final cross-examination every time.
Truly remarkable fan series. And a wonderful reaction to it, along with some golden moments of insight from you. I truly enjoyed watching this favourite fan piece with someone who genuinely appreciated that this was clearly clearly a labour of great love for the show and everything it's brought to the world.
Thank you. Looking forward to more of your reactions in mere moments, as I see you've got a few more available. Pony on..... mightily pony on.
Okay so I was going through my particular collection of mlp youtube stuff, and I realized there's a very important and very well done fan series that no one has seemed to recommend yet. It's pretty short too, about 3-9 minutes, only 7 episodes. Since you're already at like, Season 4 at this point, there's no spoilers either. And now that Turnabout Storm is finished, it's the perfect pick-up series special to do. It HotDiggityDemon's PONY.MOV series. There's a playlist for it on his channel, or just go in this order: APPLE.MOV DRESS.MOV SHED.MOV MAGIC.MOV SPIKE.MOV (optional) PARTY.MOV SWAG.MOV
The only real plot hole in this is that Equestrian bits are made either of gold, an alloy containing gold, or at least a type of solid metal. All three kinds can be sold. I mean, for vastly different sums of money, but yeah.
Though I definitely see WHY they made him not able to use it. In order to keep the other Phoenix Wright games unaffected by a sudden wealth spike.
14:00 Yeah, probably the clock made in the shape of the Thinker statue, because it was one of its kind too ;> 17:48 Yup, you figured out the teleportation thing pretty early ;> But confirming that you're right might have spoiled it for you, because you still didn't know some details. 18:00 As of yet, only Twilight can teleport, and she learned it from Nightmare Moon in S1E2. So there's two. Three if Celestia can do that too, which is safe to assume. 18:48 Sonata made a mistake by revealing the breaking into her room thing too early – that was her way to blackmail Phoenix, and now she has played that card already, so there's not much to blackmail him with, is there? ;> 20:10 That was a lame move, since it's enough to anypony else to confirm that spell instead of Twilight Sparkle ;J 21:35 Actually, in our pony world, quantum physics is taught in magic schools pretty early, because it's part of our knowledge about magic. But our approach to quantum physics is way more easy to understand and natural than in Human World. After taking a look at some of your books on quantum physics, I must say that you're doing it terribly wrong :q I couldn't think of any other way to make it more complex than you do :q That might explain why there's not much magic used in your world. (Well, maybe except dark magic – you use some of that here :q ) 28:10 No, you were right. Mr. Wright was wrong ;) Everyone makes mistakes sometimes. 32:05 Actually, she can. A witness does have a right to refuse testifying if the testimony would put the guilt on him/her. However, this usually doesn't help much anyway, if the prosecution has some solid evidence of their guilt. 36:55 Well, it isn't quite dark anymore when the lightning flashes :q 48:04 You're close, but no cigar ;) Your line of thinking is correct, but there are still some details missing that require sorting out ;> Good thinking though. You would make a good lawyer :> 01:02:03 Fun fact: The music played in the background is Beethoven's "Moonlight Sonata", 1st movement. Kinda fits the circumstances, eh? ;> 01:05:50 Well, he was right about this thing :q 01:06:41 Yup. 01:09:07 Yeah, pretty much sentencing one more pony to death :q
02:05:05 Derpy's like the UDP protocol: the packets will come eventually, but they may come in some random order :D 02:05:18 Geez, what's wrong with you, Humans?! Why do you all keep saying that? You must have missed the fact that Equestrian money is made of PURE GOLD :q And I wouldn't say gold is worthless in your world, is it? And yet you call our money "worthless", while your make-believe paper currency is even more worthless, being just paper with numbers printed on it :P COME ON! -_-' Now I'm starting to understand why your economy is in such a bad condition :q 02:06:52 Well, there's not much to do with those psyche-locks anyway until you gather evidence required to break them... 02:08:49 If you really insist bits are worthless, there's one more possibility Phoenix could have make use of them: he could have just bought some stuff in Equestrian shops, or pay for some nice spa treatment in Lotus & Aloe's :q Or exchange them for some gemstones. They're not worthless in the Human World either, are they? 02:12:22 Too bad that you didn't watch this earlier, because there's a nice connection between this scene (Trixie receiving a bag of money) and the events from the "Magic Duel" episode in which Trixie pays with a bag of money for the Alicorn Amulet in that Chinese pawn shop :> 02:13:30 Well, at least it wasn't red, white and blue :J (nah'meen) 02:17:30 Yup, there is, it started to appear recently. One part is out. 02:25:07 Well, at least they'd go well with each other, both being smart and skilled in logic. And she already turned him into a pony in that fantasy of hers when she was explaining teleportation to the court :) So I wouldn't mind that ship at all. 02:35:30 There is a video game named "My Little Investigations" that works pretty much like this fanfic, except it's interactive and you can try solving the mysteries yourself :> The game is free and open-source, and it was made in such a way that people would be able to add their own cases to it. Maybe you could play it one day, or record a gameplay :) And in case you wanted to visit Equestria yourself and try out some... other kinds of plots... ;> there's an R34 game for that as well: "Banned from Equestria" ;) It would be fun to watch you playing it, since you're enjoying the plot already :D
01:14:14 You didn't see that coming, did you? ;> 01:21:32 You're definitely into something, but the problem is as always to put those little pieces of puzzle together in the correct way so that everything made perfect sense ;J 01:23:07 Yup, there's a huge difference between a lie and false that people often confuse with each other: one can tell false information and yet it won't be a lie if there's no intent of misguiding other people with that false information. One can also believe in the false, simply being mistaken. 01:24:02 And this is another common mistake: believing that something really happened just because it's probable and imaginable. 01:29:56 I can think of one more place, butt... I'll keep it to myself :D 01:30:45 Yup, and you're quite brilliant too, since you figured out most of it yourself too :> I wonder, though... if it was Rainbow Dash who set that cloud running, could she still be held accounted for the damage it caused when she wasn't there anymore? She set it off after all :q If I made a machine that would kill someone after a while of working, even without me being around, could it be said that I was responsible for that death? Sure, it could be seen as an accident if I didn't explicitly intend that to happen, but I would still be responsible for that accident, right? Because if I didn't set it off, it wouldn't have happened at all :q 01:35:23 Not much, actually ;) The generation 3.5, on the other hoof.... :q 01:48:02 :D Well, maybe he simplifies the text for her so that more ponies could understand it ;) 01:48:44 It's good that you remember this quote, because it will come back one day ;> 01:54:54 So it's not about revenge, it's about jealousy ;> 01:56:15 How to break a tsundere :) 01:57:44 There were exactly 21 words. 01:58:40 You're into BDSM, Trixie, ain't you? ;J 02:01:02 But don't get an idea that I care about you or anything, BAKA! :J 02:01:35 Oh, it's just one of those obscure fandom memes about Trixie's fetish of eating pine cones ;J
Yes, there is a sequel to this series currently in the works called "Elements of Justice." Only the first episode has been released, however. Either way, you can't react to it yet. You have to wait until you're done with Season 4 first.
Toksyuryel It’s on the Ace Attorney: Elements of Justice channel. It’s an unofficial sequel headed by a different person than the one who headed Turnabout Storm.
Where is this sequel? It's not on the official channel, so are you sure it's actually the sequel and not just a separate series somebody else is doing (perhaps in the same universe?)
Your reaction to this series has been amazing. I could tell that the wheels in your head have been turning over the mystery of the case. Here's a link to the novelization of the series on Firesight's Fimfiction page: https://www.fimfiction.net/story/6177/phoenix-wright-turnabout-storm
It's an unofficial novelization originally written by RavenRegios until she transferred ownership to Firesight, but it definitely expands on the story, especially with bringing Maya, Pearl, and Edgeworth into Equestria. It even has a better ending than in the video series, so I recommend you read it when you get a chance.
As for that joke you made about a potential TwiWright ship at 2:25:05: that's actually explored in this story and its sequel: The Lawyer and the Unicorn, just a heads up.
PonyBro I Guess, there's a fan made sequel already out. I won't spoil too much, but if you're interested then look up Ace Attorney Elements of Justice. There are 3 parts to the story.
