Funny thing about unicorn magic colors. A lot of people think it matches their eye color. The problem with that is that it doesn't explain Celestia, Luna, Starlight, Flurry Heart, Sunburst, and Sunset, possibly among others. The magic aura matches the color of their cutie mark, or in cases like Twilight, Shining Armor, and Starlight, the color of their cutie mark's primary component. The Starburst for Twilight and Shining, and the tail of Starlight's comet-like cutie mark. Luna's magic is blue because the night sky part of her cutie mark is only black in order to properly stand out on her coat, which is a shade of blue much closer to her magic color. That and the black night sky is a representation of a dark blue sky, for which her magic is a better fit.
A few notable differences between this episode's first draft and what we got. First, the original draft had the town hall meeting as a scene. It was cut for obvious reasons. A funny bit about that removed scene is that the mayor of Phillydelphia was a pony named Cream Cheese. Next, Starlight's nightmare before Celestia stepped in was Starlight running from something that remained unseen. The biggest change was Luna's dream, which was almost entirely different. In the original draft she started with a manic smile, and had a bunch of different smiles floating around her (think the Cheshire Cat mid-entrance) that she was trying on in the mirror, with caricatures of the school ponies she felt she let down criticizing them all, and her muffled 'I do' response was due to her trying to speak through the fake smile she wore. The last change I feel worth mentioning is a sentence cut from Luna's speech that assured and empowered Celestia. In the episode, she says 'In order to defeat Daybreaker, you need only trust in your strength, as I do'. The original draft had that speech starting with 'In the dream realm, you're as powerful as you believe yourself to be'.
This is my favorite episode in the show, while its not the most emotional, the story is written so well, it has so many great moments including epic ones in the dream. The way the nightmare plays reflects the last few days starlight had with the flowers, pancakes etc...

Now this is one of my most favorite episodes of the season! The fandom has longed for a Celestia and Luna episode (including me) and this one was well received. Adding Starlight into the mix was great too. While Twilight’s moments were amusing, I still take off points from her for being nosey in Starlight’s business. Aside from that, the biggest highlight of this episode for me was Celestia’s evil alter ego, Daybreaker. From the moment she made her series debut, my entire body went cold and I could not utter any words because I was so taken by her design and presence. I give major props to Nicole Oliver for her delivery in this dark side of Celestia, she was amazing! So yeah, definitely one of the best episodes of the show in my opinion and great reaction too!
Luna was powerless in the dream because she's not actually a part of it. The dream was Starlight's and Luna's magic gave Celestia power to interact with it but Luna herself was only a visitor. If Celestia had combined their dreams Luna could have had influence but I don't think she knows how to do that.
Not sure how much you saw of the different dream bubbles, but aside from Daring Do, Fluttershy, Pinkie, and the Muffin Queen, there was also DJ-Flurry in the house mixing it up for Momma, Discord having a pillow fight with his slimy new friend from Season 5, baby Applejack being held by two pairs of hooves, each with a color/design we don't see until three episodes later (hint, hint), a re-enactment of Pony Girl, Doctor Whooves reliving a memory of one of his past lives (He's freaking out because he's looking at a weeping angel, and seems to be struggling not to blink), and Flim and Flam celebrating like Scrooge McDuck in a huge pile of money.
14:04 "I didn't know Celestia's magic was blue. I thought it was yellow... Oh, their cutie mark is switched. I didn't know that would switch the magic aura." Well Celestia is the exception to any pony being able to do anything in a dream. Like Luna said back in season 5 Celestia has no power in the dream realm
@@Flufux I think it might mean Celestia is very limited in the dream realm including what her imagination can do. I mean I'm sure she can still have dreams she just can't do anything about it. And I'm sure she must have some idea of what she can and can't do in a dream considering how long she's been around. @@Flufux And Luna was the one who made that possible by creating that shared dream. She outright states that she is the only one with power over the dream realm.
I really don't think that's what she meant by that. Far more likely Luna just meant that she was the only one who had any power over someone else's dream. During the shared dream sequence, it was all of Ponyville's dream, so therefore could everyone in Ponyville affect it.
However, Celestia wasn't there in that episode, so its likely she just didn't know about the whole 'you can do anything in a dream thing'.
This is a fantastic episode. The cutie mark swapping is a great concept. It's great to see more character expansion on Celestia and Luna. Daybreaker is just fantastic.
1:19 "Twilight always gets jealous of where the others are going." Well in this case, getting sent to see Celestia and Luna, I'd think you'd be jealous, too. :)
I enjoy the fact that Celestia said 'and you will never exist again' rather than 'and you will never exist'. Implying that at some point in the past, Daybreaker did exist. Of course, nowhere in the comics, the show, or- I don't think anyway- the books is this phrasing explored. But it's an interesting little detail.
I always took it like "you will never exist again even in dreams" since she's technically a byproduct of that, and not in the sense that she was Daybreaker at some point. It's an interesting "What if?" though
16:57 When Celestia pushed both Nightmare Moon and Day Breaker,She could push Nightmare Moon harder than Day Breaker.(Which you can see when she pushed them, Nightmare Moon got out of screen but Day Breaker Didn't)I think which is a great touch to explain that who's stronger than whom here; Celestia's stronger than Luna, Nightmare Moon's stronger than Celestia; And Day Breaker's stronger than both Celestia and Nighmare Moon. So i guess their power grows when they turn evil- (And here's the same thing : 16:57
Idk if anyone mentioned this (it's been 3yrs idk) but Daybreaker was in the comics! Twilight and the gang travel through a mirror (not the mirror to the human dimension) to a dimension where everyone who was evil is good and all who are good are evil. So the main 6 get arrested and come into contact with a good king Sombra who recognizes that this main 6 are different (i think him and our Celestia had a thing so he knows about the mirror and their dimension) and so he asks them for their help in the fight against Daybreaker.
8:54 Well on the bright side, at least she didn’t replaced them with equal signs. (Laughs nervously) (SmurfVlogs Pony Bro I Guess and viewers staring) I’m just gonna shut up now...(grinning nervously)
I've always had this question. Now hear me out. We know that Celestia can raise the sun but after the banishment of Luna, she also had to raise and lower the moon as well. Does that mean that with enough practice, Luna could learn how to raise the sun if needed? I mean she can already have stars in the skies and the sun is a type of star. Or is that the real reason Luna got sent to the moon in the first place? Celestia didn't like that her sister brought up that question.
Ok is it just me or does Luna even have a throne to sit in or is it tiny?
At 8:25. I like to think that if this wasn't resolved how it was (before the cutie mark swap) Luna would just make sure her sister has nightmares for a couple of nights straight and then ask her one morning how her dear sister slept.

9:26 "It's like a Freaky Friday situation."
7 likesOr Saucy Saturday, in this case. (That's when these episodes normally premiere.)
1:19 "Twilight always gets jealous of where the others are going."
6 likesWell in this case, getting sent to see Celestia and Luna, I'd think you'd be jealous, too. :)
Day breaker is awesome. I was waiting to get to this reaction. Great reaction to her .I just wish we could have seen more of her such a great design.
0 likesDude, you and Starlight are practically always on the same wavelength, it's AMAZING🤩
0 likesthis episode almost made me cry, I don't know if it did for anyone else
0 likesDream walking is Lunas cutie mark talent. That's why no pony else can do it.
1 likeI enjoy the fact that Celestia said 'and you will never exist again' rather than 'and you will never exist'. Implying that at some point in the past, Daybreaker did exist. Of course, nowhere in the comics, the show, or- I don't think anyway- the books is this phrasing explored. But it's an interesting little detail.

Still Luna knew the name of her sister's evil avatar to be "Daybreaker" without ever being told.
0 likesDid she already knew it already?
I always took it like "you will never exist again even in dreams" since she's technically a byproduct of that, and not in the sense that she was Daybreaker at some point. It's an interesting "What if?" though
0 likesStarlight really got lucky didn't she?

0 likesWhen Celestia pushed both Nightmare Moon and Day Breaker,She could push Nightmare Moon harder than Day Breaker.(Which you can see when she pushed them, Nightmare Moon got out of screen but Day Breaker Didn't)I think which is a great touch to explain that who's stronger than whom here;
Celestia's stronger than Luna,
Nightmare Moon's stronger than Celestia;
And Day Breaker's stronger than both Celestia and Nighmare Moon.
So i guess their power grows when they turn evil-
(And here's the same thing : 16:57
Idk if anyone mentioned this (it's been 3yrs idk) but Daybreaker was in the comics! Twilight and the gang travel through a mirror (not the mirror to the human dimension) to a dimension where everyone who was evil is good and all who are good are evil. So the main 6 get arrested and come into contact with a good king Sombra who recognizes that this main 6 are different (i think him and our Celestia had a thing so he knows about the mirror and their dimension) and so he asks them for their help in the fight against Daybreaker.
0 likesoh yeah, back to the updates! Can't wait to watch your other reactions too!
5 likesThere was a IDW comic about changing places. It got "decanonized" by this episode.
0 likesWhile I like this episode I liked the comic even more.
15:35 This is the final evolution of Flaming Twilight
2 likesDay Breaker looks like a Pokémon gone evil. Ponyta's evolved form.
0 likes8:54 Well on the bright side, at least she didn’t replaced them with equal signs. (Laughs nervously) (SmurfVlogs Pony Bro I Guess and viewers staring) I’m just gonna shut up now...(grinning nervously)

0 likessomething that makes me angry is Luna stayed up and Celestia slept much more
0 likeswhy do all the sad Princess luna or celestia episodes giving me the feels
0 likesI have seen nightmare moons transformation but i wonder how celestias look like
2 likesI've always had this question. Now hear me out. We know that Celestia can raise the sun but after the banishment of Luna, she also had to raise and lower the moon as well. Does that mean that with enough practice, Luna could learn how to raise the sun if needed? I mean she can already have stars in the skies and the sun is a type of star.
1 likeOr is that the real reason Luna got sent to the moon in the first place? Celestia didn't like that her sister brought up that question.
Ok is it just me or does Luna even have a throne to sit in or is it tiny?

At 8:25. I like to think that if this wasn't resolved how it was (before the cutie mark swap) Luna would just make sure her sister has nightmares for a couple of nights straight and then ask her one morning how her dear sister slept.
0 likesStarlight is epic.
