The community found another workaround. It involves using a Windows 10 boot.wim image. This also works when deploying from a WDS server (I used a Windows 10 1903 boot image).
When the final RTM version comes out later this year, expect third party hacks to emerge to allow people to install Windows 11 on their unsupported PCs. People will tell Microsoft to go fluff themselves.
The government needs to regulate minimum system requirements for operating systems. For example, if an operating system requires more than 4gb of ram, it will be banned in the United States.

For those people who have legacy bios and no TPM support.
1.Download windows 10 from https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10
2. Download rufus and then make a bootable Windows 10 pendrive
3. go to Pendrive > sources and delete install.wim or install.esd
4. Now open your windows11.iso by double-clicking
5. Go to windows11.iso > sources and copy install.wim/install.esd
6. paste install.wim to pendrive > sources
Now you can install windows 11 on any hardware that supports Windows 10.

You meet the specs requirements. Recommended is 1.4ghz cpu 4 GB Ram. Minimum is 1.2ghz cpu 2 gb ram. However I would consider upgrading the ram because ryzen takes up a lot of ram and the new windows 11
As someone with a 2010 i3 on my laptop, this is a pretty good deal. Wonder why they ditched legacy support partially tho, doesnt make sense with the backwards compatibility policy on ms
good for you! hardware spec requirements have not changed from the last windows 10 version, to my knowledge, the legacy boot is still intact - so running 11 on old toasters shouldn't be a problem
Third option would be to install it in a virtual machine and as soon as the installer finishes, image the virtual drive to an actual HDD. That's how I did it and I didn't even know about the limiation before I started noticing it in videos, lol.
Or if you still want to use the GUI installer, you could replace the install.wim file from a copy of windows 10 iso with the one on the windows 11 iso.
Was waiting for someone to come out with a tutorial, tried to run 11 on bare metal day one and it didn’t work, despite the pc I was trying it on to be more than capable of running Windows 10.
I've also faced this message on 4th gen Intel i7 However if you install W11 on compatible PC and then clone disk to "non-supported" machine, it will boot just fine - confirmed :)
Well mine too, so I have to manually install it by using DISM. But since my laptop came with Windows 10 pre-installed, I decided to use the image setup.exe to upgrade it from Windows 10 21H1 and currently commenting on Windows 11! PS: The experience might be kinda sus, so don't try it unless your computer is stronk enough to run EVERYTHING smoothly.
eh mine one was until I noticed a lot of issues with it, the first one being that it breaks my GPU, and breaks my boot cycle, it takes 32 seconds for the BIOS to even recognize my Installation.
There are 2 things added to minimum requirements - Secure Boot Enabled and TPM 2.0 support (if you use AMD AM4 motherboard, enabling fTPM in BIOS setup may help). Most PCs sold in Chinese Mainland around 2010-2013 doesn't support TPM or disabled by default due to law restrictions that Encryption module must support chinese encryption standards. Later in 2013 TCM came out, which supports chinese encryption standards and compatible with TPM. Also in 2016, AMD fTPM is licensed to be imported and used in Chinese Mainland thanks to Hygon, though it doesn't support chinese encryption standards.
But there are several ways to install this OS just in the PE of installer. 1. Use CLI (Press Shift and F10) - partition & format manually then use dism to deploy install.wim to a partition, fianlly add the boot manager, all done. 2. Use third-party tools such as WinNTSetup, Dism++ etc.
But on my rig using Gigabyte motherboard, secure boot can cause some GPU features' malfunction and GPIO issue. I found that default Certificate store of Gigabyte motherboards don't trust NVIDIA GPU UEFI Driver and GPIO UEFI Driver. That causes those stop working
OR, you can also install the system in MBR mode and then convert it to GPT using the built-in tools of Windows (Because I tested, it is indeed possible of installing W11 on MBR using the setup)
I found another way. You need a windows 11 PC, and a flash drive. Then go to the win11 PC and use the flash drive and make recovery media. Then go to the other one, go to the advanced settings and choose restore. Make sure the drive is plugged in. Then select the drive option. Select the one you want. Then set it up if necessary. Done

@@mondemamon929 you should be able to install even with secure boot, but I would just turn it off tbh. Commands to install you can find in endys windows 10 manual install video, everything is the same except don't go into regedit, just wpeutil reboot instead (what worked for me)

Ran into this yesterday. Turned on TPM 2.0 and had no problems installing and running win11. (currently on it right now). There is another work around, but you have to work with the ISOs from windows 10 and 11, to create your own ISO.
1. make yourself a windows 10 install usb (make sure the language of the windows 10 iso is english US, if you dont do this then you will get "failed to finish setting up locale configuration" error) 2. delete the install.esd/.wim located in x64/sources from the windows 10 install usb 3. replace it with the install.wim from the windows 11 iso
Thats it, just install as normal, the installer will look just like windows 10 but you will notice that it will ask you to select which version of windows 11 you wish to install

all windows 10 product keys work for activating windows 11! and the n in some of the options mean that they’re installed without the media centre bundle, which includes windows media player, etc.
so if you follow this tutorial, you’ll always be doing a windows 11 education install, which means that you can’t use your typical windows 10 keys to activate it! most versions run pro or home, so try those and see what works!

You can just enable secure boot and trusted platform module since I did the same on my own laptop with home single language license on motherboard and it activated successfully.

AM4 motherboard (Asus X470-F Strix Gaming) The "PC Health Check" for W11 said I did not meet the requirements. Quick Googling suggested it was due to TPM not being enabled. Even as a guy who knows a bit about PC's I was confused... for some reason I thought "Secure Boot" meant TPM was enabled. NOPE... I got at my motherboard manual and saw something called "fTPM" so I went into the BIOS and enabled that. The "PC Health Check" now passed and "tpm.msc" reports TPM v2.0 is ready... I signed up for the Windows Insider Beta and apparently there should be a version ready in JULY. I'm not so daring as to install a Developer build. If I remember correctly you can't roll back but I could be wrong. As my primary driver I already use Acronis True Image to make weekly backups so I'll restore W10 that way (from W11 Beta) if there's W11 issues and rollback fails.
The way I got windows 11 very easily was when I used Rufus to make my usb stick bootable, there was an option to not require the secure boot and I selected that and it worked fine
After the Windows 11 reveal, they released a utility that lets you know whether you can upgrade to Windows 11 (windows 10 users can upgrade for free). It appears the TPM restriction IS STILL a thing. I had to activate it for my computer in order for Microsoft to tell me that I can upgrade once Windows 11 is out
@xn6nko enable firmware TPM. Worked for me. I have an ASUS motherboard and an AMD CPU as well (Asus Prime X570-P, Ryzen 9 3900x), I searched for TPM and it showed me a regular TPM and an fTPM. The regular TPM was set on "Discrete TPM". I changed it to "Firmware TPM" and it showed me the exact same message as Enderman. Then, I checked the requirements, and it said my PC is eligible

The system requirements are usually just recommendations. I've run Debian 11 on a a pentium 2 with 128MB of RAM, I also ran Windows 10 on a Toshiba Satellite M115-S1061 from 2006 a few years back.
As long its officially supported, you can. My late 2013 MacBook Pro a1398 can officially run Big Sur. I did an in place upgrade from Maverick to Catalina. My mid 2012 MacBook Pro a1278 missed the cutoff date for running Big Sur. Catalina is latest OS officially supported on it. There’s a cutoff date with hardware and even if you can upgrade unofficially doesn’t mean you’ll have the best experience going forward.
My friend said a trick about it to me. Get ISOs of Windows 10 and 11. Replace boot.wim in Windows 10 installer with Windows 11's one. And it will be like: Installer:Windows 10 Content: Windows 11 Which means you will not get "This PC can't run Windows 11". Thanks to this trick I installed it on hardware Intel Pentium P6100 :D

For people NOT having TPM 2.0 which want to Upgrade / Reinstall: grab an old apraiserres.dll from any Windows 10 ISO, place it in the sources folder of your Win11 Install USB and you are good to go.

i installed it successfully by just upgrading a w10 vm with the w11 setup utility worked flawlessly also when i was installing it on res hardware for a test i had to go from 7 to 10 becuse it said it needed safe boot to work
so installed it on my legacy bios by just replacing a dll file, the system looks very clean and it runs pretty smooth, hopefuly ms doesnt ruin it with their stupid updates
I had to do this in a VM to get win11 installed for some testing. Still works great. too bad they lied about the final TPM requirement after the leak though.
weirdly enough, I didn't have any issues at all getting that leaked build to work last year in a VM on my Win7 laptop.
correction; still having some issues. i did everything exactly (did it in a VM), and it's still giving me problems. VirtualBox is telling me no bootable mediums were found, despite everything working fine.

you can open cmd go into regedit and make a modifcations to the installer to bypass tpm and secure boot it is just a easier and faster way and it works on any build of window 11

i am running windows 11 on my laptop and i did not had to make any changes i just had to install it it even is activated with my windows 10 key (acer nitro 5) with an amd ryzen and gtx 1650
I just used VirtualBox and a raw vmdk linked to an external HDD. After installation procedure was done I rebooted to said external HDD. (It's a Toshiba HDD connected via a Serial ATA to USB-3 adapter). Then I did the same procedure but the other way around from Windows 11 TO my internal SSD.
If you want a similar way without cmd, you can flash a windows 10 iso on a usb drive, then replace the "install.wim" file with the windows 11 install.wim
This reminds me of the issue running Windows 10 under clover it claims not to support but in reality to display a user mode error it is already working, you'd think there would be more cause for the error to have a continue anyway button for advanced users.
TPM 14-pin for some motherboards... Some motherboards have a connector for a TPM but don't have it on the motherboard. So you'd have to buy a module. I'm not sure if you can buy just any module. Support seems a bit questionable. My dad's "Asus Z87 Gryphon" (i5-4670K CPU) has a TPM connector but no onboard TPM. He has no desire for W11 anyway... it's possible Microsoft doesn't require Secure Boot and TPM in the end, but it seems like they will... apparently some people can install early builds without TPM but the official launch will require TPM so they'll have to enable TPM or downgrade back to W10. Again, unless this changes.
Almost every mainboard with UEFI have integrated TPM 2.0. I have mainboard from 2015 and it have UEFI, secure boot, integrated TPM 2.0 and TPM extension slot for dedicated cryptoprocessor. TPM is purely hardware solution. There does not exist any software substitution for it.

My solution is repalce "Install.wim" in Windows 11 iso file to "Install.esd" in sources folder in USB contain Windows 10 Installer :) It work perfecly and my pentium G4400 could run.
If you are installing Windows 11 from Windows 10 then there is a certain you need to replace to make the system think you have the proper requirements to run Windows 11.

The upgrade iso didn't work for me, so I copied the install.wim from the windows 11 image and copied it to the windows iso, then ran the windows 10 upgrade tool and it worked and installed windows 11

I'm in between 10 and 11... On one hand i could have the buggy mess that is 10, but still have the tiles, or i could have the fresh new 10, which looks really good but loses the tiles.

I have a N3450 cpu in my laptop and it runs just fine. Simply took a bootable usb copy of win 10 and deleted the install.esd file in the sources folder. Pasted in a copy of install.wim from windows 11 right back into the folder, clicked setup and it installed right away. I even updated it to 22000.51 today through the system update because I have a windows insider account and it was just fine.

@@B1rtek Just for your curiosity, the upgrade option doesn’t do much aside from storing the previous OS in the Windows.old folder. It wipes the existing OS it doesn’t update it.

Yes, I heard from one Microsoft developer. They told me it was an accident and the person behind that got immediately fired. I cannot confirm any of the information they told me, but let's be real, a person from Microsoft definitely knows better than all of us. just take out your regedit go hkey local and setup then add a new key (NOT IN THE FOLDER!) named LabConfig then do BypassTPMCheck, or whatever your having problems with, then put the value to 1 (PUT VALUE ONE TO THEM ALL! AND ALSO NO NEED TO DELETE THE KEY IN LAB CONFIG!)

@@real2w10 it worked perfectly, i just installed windows 11 on my x58 pc. that could mean the life for legacy hardware isnt over yet and might even continue after 2025 (end of win 10 support). it is a workstation system from 2009 but thanks to the 6 core xeon @ 4 ghz, 24 gb ram and a fast ssd, the system feels super smooth and responsive.
@@talvisota327 good, btw you can only do a clean install, you can run the modern installer, but it won’t let you keep your data, I believe you could retrieve it in Windows.old but I’m not entirely sure you could so if you wanna upgrade make sure to backup your files

Unfortunately, this method does not seem to work when the image file "install.wim" changes to "install.esd". How are you gonna install from the source which is "install.esd" and not "install.wim" when one cannot be mounted and is not readable and the other one actually is? Or are there any other tricks with commands which will let you follow the same tactics with "install.esd" as the installation source? If so, then I'd like to know about that one as it seems that " install.esd" is far more common and popular among deva than "install.wim" is.
But let's see, if they say that from a W7 you can update to W11 for free (like W10) what is the point of TPM2.0, if most of the equipment that works W7 does not have it available (contradiction like the glass of a Pine tree). All the posts that are running on the internet are testing this filtered ISO, and giving their opinion on it, when it is already seen (when executing winver it indicates DEV Version) that it is a development version, possibly delivered by a manufacturer (so that they can test drivers or what be,) to which this iso has been put this restriction so that it is not installed in other computers. But for whatever reason it leaked and is fooling everyone this TPM issue (which by the way, has already found a way to skip that).

how about in AMD-based systems..this method doesn't work and yes it needs legacy support just to override the img file via command prompt and allows bypass the freaking installer quirk(that AMD missed).

You could Just Download a Windows 10 ISO , mount it with Rufus. Then on the Stick go to source and delete install.wim. then Copy the Install wim from win 11 into the source folder where you deleted the Install.wim. now Just booot from IT. It will say win 10 and will Show win 10 editions in the Installer but IT will Install win 11

Thanks for this, I did this on my old PC to see what Windows 11 is like. The stuff you found in your D drive was on the H drive on mine for some reason, and install.wim was install.esd so I applied that and I think it seems to be working okay it’s just at the ‘Getting Ready’ screen. Probably an easier way to do this but I read if you do the other method through regedit, Microsoft classifies your install as unsupported and you don’t get updates or something like that

It's actually funny how some PC "Can't" run windows 11. As an example my mom own a relatively old laptop with just enough component to work at decent speed. Windows can be installed on it. Well, that looks a lot easier than my solution. I converted install.wim to install.esd and put it into the windows 10 installer.. At least the installation afterwards is pretty simple
Probably a minimum of 12 GB with Windows 11. Microsoft has always made the requirement lower than what Windows can actually run at. If you can’t upgrade the RAM, you may be out of luck. Microsoft and PC makers have good reason to want to have you buy a new PC. Its not just upgrading the operating system, you also want to upgrade the hardware as well to match.

So, first of all thank you. Here's what I managed so far, on actual hardware (i5 first gen laptop, MBR only): I made a usb off of the magnet ISO one, using the old Windows 7 USB DVD tool, and it actually boots in MBR just fine. Before deployment, I formatted the partition where windows 10 was installed, leaving the boot partition alone. Then I used the DISM command to deploy the image, with index 6 (windows 11 professional) and I'm booting just fine! Finishing installation now!!! YAY!! UPDATE: It activates automatically if you have a digital license of Windows 10 (if you install the same tier of course) just fine! It's updating, installing VGA drivers etc just fine. It's all set!! Hooray!
Nice workaround but too much work for me. You can download the appraiserres.dll from dllme and replace the file in the sources folder of the USB stick. Worked absolutely fine for me and took less than three minutes.

You can simply make windows 10 bootable then delete the install.esd in the sources folder and put the install.wim from windows 11 iso in it. Then just start the installation and it will start working. I have made a video on it.
I need to see if Rufus can extract and install an "on the go" version. I've had issues with some machines during installation of Win10. If I mount the blank HD in a USB adaptor I can get Rufus to install a live version. Remove the USB drive and install the new drive back in the computer as the boot drive.
You can also take a win 10 iso and delete the instal file and replace it with the instal.wim from a win 11 iso. But i dont know id that works for legacy

Complex. Simply, copy and paste replace the file "install.esd" from the win11 iso (sources folder) to the win10 iso (sources folder) and use the win10 iso to install, finish.
NO need this long and difficult process... Just go to Souce\Install.wim and copy to another Windows 10 ISO and paste this in same place but delete the install.wim or install.esd :). If while installation just retry again.
When I try to install this iso file "21996.1.210529-1541.co_release_CLIENT_CONSUMER_x64FRE_en-us.iso" I have this same error and then I try this version "Windows_11_DEV_X64.iso" it worked
EASIER METHOD FOR NORMIES: Just make a windows 10 installer, but then take the "install.wim" file located in the sources folder of the Windows 11 iso, and use it to replace the "install.wim" file in the windows 10 installer you just made.

Way too overcomplicated. Just donwload a Windows 10 ISO, extract the W11 ISO on a folder on your drive, and replace the file "install.wim" on W11 with the one with the same name from the W10 ISO. Then burn the folder back into an ISO, and create a bootable drive with rufus or something like that. Boom. You´re done. No console needed.
@@somethingiguess1157 Yeah :) Funny enough, W10 has a slightly better(!) support for the legacy software (say, VisualBasic 6), and is mostly glitch-free nowadays (still more glitchy then W7 however) - yet that cellphone-style UI is just horrendous... The crap excuses like " true HDR" and "RGB10 support" are actually working in W7 too, so no reason to use W10 and above unless totally forced.

Third Edit: Ok so I changed the drive letter from X to Z and I replaced the 4 in index to 3. (Replacing the 4 to 3 was by accident, but I worked. Its applying the image. I hope the changement of the number didn't affect anything. I will have to wait and see.

The only real question is if Windows 11 drops x32 support. If its only x64 Windows, you may want to hold off with the upgrading. Mac users found out the hard way when MacOS Catalina dropped x32 support.

I´ve found the problem why it was not working. I had my OS drive not converted to GPT, and UEFI was not completely activated. I had to set some additional parameters from "legacy only" to "UEFI drivers first".
Now the Microsoft tool says, that my RIG is capable of running Win11.
@@eltadashi1 What motherboard? Try to look up if you have Discrete TPM somewhere in your bios and change it to Firmware TPM. Then it should be compatible.
For people with gaming pc's.... go to your bios and change from Discrete TPM to Firmware TPM and you will have TPM 2.0 capability. Its under Advanced\PCH-FW Configuration. If you dont have that then you can also buy an Asus TPM Module for like $5 and most Asus gaming motherboards have a slot for it.

After that go to windows11.iso > sources and copy install.wim and paste it in pendrive > sources. Works like magic in legacy bios. 1.Download windows 10 from https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10
2. Download rufus and then make a bootable Windows 10 pendrive
3. go to Pendrive > sources and delete install.wim or install.esd
4. Now open your windows11.iso by double-clicking
5. Go to windows11.iso > sources and copy install.wim/install.esd
6. paste install.wim to pendrive > sources
Now you can install windows 11 on any hardware that supports Windows 10.

Yes but in my case i have an Dell Laptop E6420 with Core i5 2Gen, i can enable TPM but i didn't find SecureBoot in my BIOS so i can't install Windows 11
@@aviumcaravan i had to disable legacy support entirely, then turn on secure boot, just to enable tpm, then i had to mess with secure boot settings to get anything to boot. after some trial and error, im now dual booting windows 11 with garuda linux.
On my 2015 laptop all I did was turn on uefi booting and put in the install usb , The setup run perfectly no issues EDIT : I had a usb stick with ventroy , dont know if it has to do with something Also you can use a windows 10 key or put a account with a windows license

The community found another workaround. It involves using a Windows 10 boot.wim image. This also works when deploying from a WDS server (I used a Windows 10 1903 boot image).

2. Download rufus and then make a bootable Windows 10 pendrive
3. go to Pendrive > sources and delete install.wim or install.esd
4. Now open your windows11.iso by double-clicking
5. Go to windows11.iso > sources and copy install.wim/install.esd
6. paste install.wim to pendrive > sources
Now you can install windows 11 on any hardware that supports Windows 10.

There are 2 things added to minimum requirements - Secure Boot Enabled and TPM 2.0 support (if you use AMD AM4 motherboard, enabling fTPM in BIOS setup may help).
9 likesMost PCs sold in Chinese Mainland around 2010-2013 doesn't support TPM or disabled by default due to law restrictions that Encryption module must support chinese encryption standards.
Later in 2013 TCM came out, which supports chinese encryption standards and compatible with TPM.
Also in 2016, AMD fTPM is licensed to be imported and used in Chinese Mainland thanks to Hygon, though it doesn't support chinese encryption standards.
But there are several ways to install this OS just in the PE of installer.
1. Use CLI (Press Shift and F10) - partition & format manually then use dism to deploy install.wim to a partition, fianlly add the boot manager, all done.
2. Use third-party tools such as WinNTSetup, Dism++ etc.

4 likesI found another way. You need a windows 11 PC, and a flash drive. Then go to the win11 PC and use the flash drive and make recovery media. Then go to the other one, go to the advanced settings and choose restore. Make sure the drive is plugged in. Then select the drive option. Select the one you want. Then set it up if necessary. Done

Ran into this yesterday. Turned on TPM 2.0 and had no problems installing and running win11. (currently on it right now). There is another work around, but you have to work with the ISOs from windows 10 and 11, to create your own ISO.

i found another work around.
0 likes1. make yourself a windows 10 install usb (make sure the language of the windows 10 iso is english US, if you dont do this then you will get "failed to finish setting up locale configuration" error)
2. delete the install.esd/.wim located in x64/sources from the windows 10 install usb
3. replace it with the install.wim from the windows 11 iso
Thats it, just install as normal, the installer will look just like windows 10 but you will notice that it will ask you to select which version of windows 11 you wish to install

0 likesThe "PC Health Check" for W11 said I did not meet the requirements. Quick Googling suggested it was due to TPM not being enabled. Even as a guy who knows a bit about PC's I was confused... for some reason I thought "Secure Boot" meant TPM was enabled. NOPE... I got at my motherboard manual and saw something called "fTPM" so I went into the BIOS and enabled that. The "PC Health Check" now passed and "tpm.msc" reports TPM v2.0 is ready...
I signed up for the Windows Insider Beta and apparently there should be a version ready in JULY. I'm not so daring as to install a Developer build. If I remember correctly you can't roll back but I could be wrong. As my primary driver I already use Acronis True Image to make weekly backups so I'll restore W10 that way (from W11 Beta) if there's W11 issues and rollback fails.
Instructions incase anyone else wants to try this after you get to the error page(in an easier format):

It appears the TPM restriction IS STILL a thing. I had to activate it for my computer in order for Microsoft to tell me that I can upgrade once Windows 11 is out

@xn6nko enable firmware TPM. Worked for me. I have an ASUS motherboard and an AMD CPU as well (Asus Prime X570-P, Ryzen 9 3900x), I searched for TPM and it showed me a regular TPM and an fTPM. The regular TPM was set on "Discrete TPM". I changed it to "Firmware TPM" and it showed me the exact same message as Enderman. Then, I checked the requirements, and it said my PC is eligible

2. Download rufus and then make a bootable Windows 10 pendrive
3. go to Pendrive > sources and delete install.wim or install.esd
4. Now open your windows11.iso by double-clicking
5. Go to windows11.iso > sources and copy install.wim/install.esd
6. paste install.wim to pendrive > sources
Now you can install windows 11 on any hardware that supports Windows 10.

The system requirements are usually just recommendations. I've run Debian 11 on a a pentium 2 with 128MB of RAM, I also ran Windows 10 on a Toshiba Satellite M115-S1061 from 2006 a few years back.
0 likesAs long its officially supported, you can. My late 2013 MacBook Pro a1398 can officially run Big Sur. I did an in place upgrade from Maverick to Catalina. My mid 2012 MacBook Pro a1278 missed the cutoff date for running Big Sur. Catalina is latest OS officially supported on it. There’s a cutoff date with hardware and even if you can upgrade unofficially doesn’t mean you’ll have the best experience going forward.

0 likesSome motherboards have a connector for a TPM but don't have it on the motherboard. So you'd have to buy a module. I'm not sure if you can buy just any module. Support seems a bit questionable. My dad's "Asus Z87 Gryphon" (i5-4670K CPU) has a TPM connector but no onboard TPM. He has no desire for W11 anyway... it's possible Microsoft doesn't require Secure Boot and TPM in the end, but it seems like they will... apparently some people can install early builds without TPM but the official launch will require TPM so they'll have to enable TPM or downgrade back to W10. Again, unless this changes.

0 likesAlmost every mainboard with UEFI have integrated TPM 2.0. I have mainboard from 2015 and it have UEFI, secure boot, integrated TPM 2.0 and TPM extension slot for dedicated cryptoprocessor. TPM is purely hardware solution. There does not exist any software substitution for it.

0 likesSimply took a bootable usb copy of win 10 and deleted the install.esd file in the sources folder. Pasted in a copy of install.wim from windows 11 right back into the folder, clicked setup and it installed right away. I even updated it to 22000.51 today through the system update because I have a windows insider account and it was just fine.

@@B1rtek Just for your curiosity, the upgrade option doesn’t do much aside from storing the previous OS in the Windows.old folder. It wipes the existing OS it doesn’t update it.

See, now I’d like to see how to get past the restriction when doing an upgrade from windows 10 to this beta. I’d genuinely love to upgrade the windows 10 on my MacBook and just have everything transfer over. :/ VM Sucks to have to work with and not a lot of system resources. I’m pretty sure my 2015 MBA has TPM 2.0 and Secure Boot, but idk how to find out. 🤷♂️😭

0 likes@@real2w10 it worked perfectly, i just installed windows 11 on my x58 pc. that could mean the life for legacy hardware isnt over yet and might even continue after 2025 (end of win 10 support). it is a workstation system from 2009 but thanks to the 6 core xeon @ 4 ghz, 24 gb ram and a fast ssd, the system feels super smooth and responsive.
0 likes@@talvisota327 good, btw you can only do a clean install, you can run the modern installer, but it won’t let you keep your data, I believe you could retrieve it in Windows.old but I’m not entirely sure you could so if you wanna upgrade make sure to backup your files

How are you gonna install from the source which is "install.esd" and not "install.wim" when one cannot be mounted and is not readable and the other one actually is? Or are there any other tricks with commands which will let you follow the same tactics with "install.esd" as the installation source? If so, then I'd like to know about that one as it seems that " install.esd" is far more common and popular among deva than "install.wim" is.

0 likesBut let's see, if they say that from a W7 you can update to W11 for free (like W10) what is the point of TPM2.0, if most of the equipment that works W7 does not have it available (contradiction like the glass of a Pine tree). All the posts that are running on the internet are testing this filtered ISO, and giving their opinion on it, when it is already seen (when executing winver it indicates DEV Version) that it is a development version, possibly delivered by a manufacturer (so that they can test drivers or what be,) to which this iso has been put this restriction so that it is not installed in other computers. But for whatever reason it leaked and is fooling everyone this TPM issue (which by the way, has already found a way to skip that).

Then on the Stick go to source and delete install.wim. then Copy the Install wim from win 11 into the source folder where you deleted the Install.wim. now Just booot from IT. The stuff you found in your D drive was on the H drive on mine for some reason, and install.wim was install.esd so I applied that and I think it seems to be working okay it’s just at the ‘Getting Ready’ screen. Probably an easier way to do this but I read if you do the other method through regedit, Microsoft classifies your install as unsupported and you don’t get updates or something like that

0 likesProbably a minimum of 12 GB with Windows 11. Microsoft has always made the requirement lower than what Windows can actually run at.

0 likesSo, first of all thank you. Here's what I managed so far, on actual hardware (i5 first gen laptop, MBR only):
0 likesI made a usb off of the magnet ISO one, using the old Windows 7 USB DVD tool, and it actually boots in MBR just fine.
Before deployment, I formatted the partition where windows 10 was installed, leaving the boot partition alone. Then I used the DISM command to deploy the image, with index 6 (windows 11 professional) and I'm booting just fine! Finishing installation now!!! YAY!!
UPDATE: It activates automatically if you have a digital license of Windows 10 (if you install the same tier of course) just fine! It's updating, installing VGA drivers etc just fine. It's all set!! Hooray!

0 likesNice workaround but too much work for me. You can download the appraiserres.dll from dllme and replace the file in the sources folder of the USB stick. Worked absolutely fine for me and took less than three minutes.

If I mount the blank HD in a USB adaptor I can get Rufus to install a live version. Remove the USB drive and install the new drive back in the computer as the boot drive.

Same process on upgrading 7/8/8.1 to 10. You need UEFI enabled to upgrade tho but you can disable UEFI once you have upgraded.

Just donwload a Windows 10 ISO, extract the W11 ISO on a folder on your drive, and replace the file "install.wim" on W11 with the one with the same name from the W10 ISO. Then burn the folder back into an ISO, and create a bootable drive with rufus or something like that. Boom. You´re done. No console needed.

@@somethingiguess1157 Yeah :) Funny enough, W10 has a slightly better(!) support for the legacy software (say, VisualBasic 6), and is mostly glitch-free nowadays (still more glitchy then W7 however) - yet that cellphone-style UI is just horrendous... The crap excuses like " true HDR" and "RGB10 support" are actually working in W7 too, so no reason to use W10 and above unless totally forced.

In actual, you just need to do these steps

4. go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Setup
5. make two dword files: BypassTPMCheck and BypassSecureBootCheck.
6. On both set value to 1.
7. go forward and it should work (do not restart or you will be needed to do that again)

0 likeshow do you lock your folders and i have windows 10 enterprise for no reason and this pc used to run windows 10 home unactivated and i did some product key changes and some activation scripts to activate it and my pc has bitlocker enabled when i have no TPM and i have balloon notifications and my pc is is modified and enabling aero lite but i hated it and tried to do it on 8.1 and i liked it for no reason at all

0 likesThe only real question is if Windows 11 drops x32 support. If its only x64 Windows, you may want to hold off with the upgrading. Mac users found out the hard way when MacOS Catalina dropped x32 support.

2 likesI´ve found the problem why it was not working. I had my OS drive not converted to GPT, and UEFI was not completely activated.
I had to set some additional parameters from "legacy only" to "UEFI drivers first".
Now the Microsoft tool says, that my RIG is capable of running Win11.

@@eltadashi1 What motherboard? Try to look up if you have Discrete TPM somewhere in your bios and change it to Firmware TPM. Then it should be compatible.

For people with gaming pc's.... go to your bios and change from Discrete TPM to Firmware TPM and you will have TPM 2.0 capability. Its under Advanced\PCH-FW Configuration. If you dont have that then you can also buy an Asus TPM Module for like $5 and most Asus gaming motherboards have a slot for it.

3. Ran the setup.exe from a folder and installed Windows 11 with no issues.
For those people who have legacy bios and no TPM support.

2. Download rufus and then make a bootable Windows 10 pendrive
3. go to Pendrive > sources and delete install.wim or install.esd
4. Now open your windows11.iso by double-clicking
5. Go to windows11.iso > sources and copy install.wim/install.esd
6. paste install.wim to pendrive > sources
Now you can install windows 11 on any hardware that supports Windows 10.
