Just image that Japan is an opportunity to make your own personal brain movie. It's probably not that simple, but an interesting idea I guess. This was lovely by the way, you inspire me and so much of your audience to be brave, knowing we can overcome stuff in our life just as you are brave with disassociation. Please don't overwhelm yourself with trying to make videos or post while you travel, we care about your mental health and your life more than we care about videos. We love you and want you to do what is best for you, regardless of what it means for us. Just know that you'll have one happy moment on each trip, you don't need to anticipate it, try to engineer it, or wait for it to happen, just trust that it will and you will get your one pure moment each trip. As a person who has traveled pretttyy extensively with depression/anxiety and a fair amount of spaced-out-ness the best thing to do is try not to be angry with yourself for not feeling great. Travelling is often stressful and tiring!! If you're tired you can give yourself a break, sleep in and have a relax day. Taking a break from sightseeing to take care of yourself for a day is better than doing the whole holiday tired af and not enjoying yourself. Instead of thinking stuff like "aahhh this is such a great opportunity and I'm wasting it by being depressed/anxious/not fully present" just try to make the best of what you can experience. Take loads of photos and videos so you can experience it again later. Don't beat yourself up if you're not happy just because you're travelling. Remember to drink loads of water, try to get plenty of sleep and eat enough food! In Japan it's really easy to go to a kombini and get snacks to chuck in your backpack (but there's few public bins bc you are expected to take your trash home with you and recycle it). ALSO JAPAN HAS HOT (and cold) TEA IN VENDING MACHINES and it's actually really good so.

Hopefully you enjoy Japan ily. Also those Harry Potter glasses really suit you. :)

hi dodie I follow your videos since a long time ago and I feel like, as a person that has also gone through depression, I can get where you're coming from when you say thay you don't want to travel! that being said as someone from a country of the so called third world (lol) I couldn't help but feel slightly offended by your words! going to Japan has been a big dream of mine since I was like 12 and I'm 24 now and as the economy in my country isn't the best, actually going there seems impossible for me (and btw for so many in my country)
what I'm trying to say is that you should considered yourself inmensely privileged for having this opportunity and even if u feel like going on a plane it's going to be shit, pls I'll advice you to be a little bit more​ sensitive and think about the people that can't get that chance!!

you probably won't read this dodie, but i struggle with anxiety and depersonalization just like you do and i completely relate to the anxiety you're feeling over your Japan trip. there's something so irrationally terrifying about leaving home and all your comfort and daily routines. but i've realized that for me, my comfort zone is like a room full of open windows and doors but i tell myself that i have no way of escaping. my anxiety and depersonalization trap me inside and keep me from doing the things i love. but the most wonderful things have happened to me with a step outside my comfort zone. i really hope you enjoy your trip and have an amazing time-- even if your depersonalization creates some road blocks along the way. and maybe we can both get through our struggles someday. ❤❤
