Izdali su 4 studijska albuma, a prva dva bit će zanimljiva prog fanovima. Više volim samozvani debi od ovog drugog izdanja. Još uvijek četiri komada, ali uspjeli su nagovoriti Nicka Grahama da pjeva na dvije pjesme, Nick dolazi iz ATOMIC ROOSTER-a i pomislili biste da je to možda bio razlog da prodaju više primjeraka, ali ne i etiketa ih je ispustila. Ako ti išta znači, dvije pjesme na kojima Nick pjeva su moja dva najmanje omiljena. Više volim pjevanje Boba Jamesa. Ima sjajan glas. Ni ovaj put nema mellotrona, a po mom mišljenju nedostaju stihovi o ovome. Ipak mi se sviđa ovaj bend, ali ne mogu pogoditi tu četvrtu zvijezdu.
Ovdje ima nekoliko pjesama u kojima stvarno uživam dok su mi dvije na kojima sam spomenuo da Nick pjeva najmanje omiljene, a ostale su u redu. "Big Brother te gleda" je jedan od moja dva najbolja i otvarač. Ovo je sjajan primjer zašto je Bob tako dobar pjevač. "Queen Of Bad Intentions" je onaj drugi i opet su vokali glavni razlog, ali baš mi se sviđa zvuk ovog. Bob dodaje gitaru, saksofon i flautu, dok klavijaturist dodaje trubu osim klavira i orgulja. Skin Alley Founded in 1968 - Disbanded in 1974.
In the fall of 68, Skin Alley turned professional when they signed with Clearwater Productions as managers (who also handled High Tide, The Trees and a little later Hawkwind), according to a former member who was now with the company. Gigging around regularly for free (concerts organized by their management company) to find the following, this West London quartet developed a different kind of rock that attracted a lot of jazz and blues. Built around keyboardist Juskiewicz and part-time guitarist, but saxophonist and flute Bob James, Skin Alley had a distinctive sound, which is why they stood out at many of the free concerts they played. After being spotted by the legendary John Peel, they recorded a BBC session for the Top Gear programme, which won them a recording contract with English affiliate CBS at short notice. Recorded in November of that year, it was released on March 70 along with a non-album single. Critical acclaim and encouraging sales lead CBS to allow Skin Alley (which suffered the departure of Crimble during filming and was partially replaced by former Atomic Rooster bassist Nick Graham) to release a second album, From Pagham And Beyond, later that year.
For some reasons (the album wasn't as successful as a debut), CBS decided not to invest further in the band, and Skin Alley had to find another label, which took a while. It wasn't until early 72 that their third album was released on a small folk transatlantic label (and surprisingly, soul Stax label in the US), but by then Skin alley was a different band, drummer Pope left the band, replaced by Tony Knight, and SA had a much rocker approach aimed at the US, even enjoying success with skin valley song Serenade. Their third album Two Quid Deal offers a lot of prog while they were recording their latest album Skintight in Memphis, Tennessee (home of the Stax Record), perhaps a hint that they ruined everything to America, because of their country rock flavors. They disbanded the following year and outside Graham, no one needed to make many waves in the music industry.

SKIN ALLEY were a jazz rock band from the UK starting in the late 1960s. They have released 4 studio albums, and the first two will be of interest to prog fans. I prefer a self-titled debut to this second edition. Still four pieces, but they managed to get Nick Graham to sing on two songs, Nick comes from ATOMIC ROOSTER and you'd think that might have been a reason to sell more copies, but not the label dropped them. For what it's worth, the two songs Nick sings on are my two least favorites. I prefer Bob James singing. He's got a great voice. There are no mellotrons this time either, and in my opinion the lyrics about this are missing. I still like this band, but I can't hit that fourth star.
There are a few songs here that I really enjoy while the two I mentioned nick singing are the least favorite, and the rest are fine. "Big Brother is watching you" is one of my top two and the opener. This is a great example of why Bob is such a good singer. "Queen Of Bad Intentions" is the other one and again the vocals are the main reason, but I really like the sound of this. Bob adds guitar, saxophone and flute, while the keyboardist adds a trumpet other than a piano and organ. I would recommend a debut and to a lesser extent this, both editions from 1970............. Ce n’est qu’au début des années 72 que leur troisième album est sorti sur un petit label transatlantique folk (et étonnamment, le label soul Stax aux États-Unis), mais à ce moment-là Skin alley était un groupe différent, le batteur Pope a quitté le groupe, remplacé par Tony Knight, et SA avait une approche beaucoup plus rockiste destinée aux États-Unis, profitant même du succès avec la chanson skin valley Serenade. Leur troisième album Two Quid Deal offre beaucoup de prog pendant qu’ils enregistraient leur dernier album Skintight à Memphis, Tennessee (maison du Stax Record), peut-être un indice qu’ils ont tout ruiné en Amérique, en raison de leurs saveurs country rock. Je préfère un début éponyme à cette deuxième édition. Encore quatre morceaux, mais ils ont réussi à faire chanter Nick Graham sur deux chansons, Nick vient d’ATOMIC ROOSTER et on pourrait penser que cela aurait pu être une raison de vendre plus d’exemplaires, mais pas le label les a laissé tomber. Pour ce que ça vaut, les deux chansons sur les chansons que Nick chante sont mes deux moins préférées. Je préfère bob James chantant. Il a une grande voix. Il n’y a pas de mellotrons cette fois non plus, et à mon avis, les paroles à ce sujet sont manquantes. J’aime toujours ce groupe, mais je ne peux pas frapper cette quatrième étoile.
Il y a quelques chansons ici que j’aime vraiment tandis que les deux que j’ai mentionné nick chantant sont les moins préférés, et le reste sont très bien. « Big Brother vous regarde » est l’un de mes deux meilleurs et l’ouvreur. C’est un excellent exemple de la raison pour laquelle Bob est un si bon chanteur. « Queen Of Bad Intentions » est l’autre et encore une fois les voix sont la raison principale, mais j’aime vraiment le son de cela. Bob ajoute la guitare, le saxophone et la flûte, tandis que le claviériste ajoute une trompette autre qu’un piano et un orgue.
