.......Le premier album S /T de Mad River en 1968 est l’un de mes albums de rock psychédélique préférés de tous les temps. Paradise Bar &Grill est beaucoup plus orienté rock country, mais heureusement, il y a encore des éléments psychédéliques.
La plupart des sons matériels sorte de médio oudaniable à mes oreilles, mais il y a aussi quelques très belles chansons.
« L’amour n’est pas la façon de traiter un ami », « Laissez-moi / restez » et « Cimetière de l’Académie » sont des faits saillants évidents ici si vous me demandez. Je n’aime pas beaucoup les chansons orientées country. En tant que totalité, ce disque obtient trois étoiles de moi et c’est certainement la note la plus élevée à laquelle je puisse penser. Clairement plus faible que leur premier album impeccable. Oui, c’est un grand changement stylistique vers le country rock, mais heureusement, ils ont encore une partie de ce style plus ancien qui reste de leurs débuts de tueur. « Leave Me Stay » est long, mais il rappelle la formule de couvaison rock plus orientée vers le fuzz de leur premier LP. L’autre côté s’ouvre avec deux chansons intéressantes mais partout appelées « They Brought Sadness » et « Revolution’s In My Pocket », et cette dernière a quelques changements de rythme cool et un travail de guitare audacieux, y compris un solo brillant. Les deux instrumentales de l’album sont assez bonnes, un court « Equinox » et un « cimetière d’académie » sauvage. Ce n’est pas du lavage en aucune façon. Certains considèrent leur premier album comme un chef-d’œuvre inexorable, et presque un nombre égal pensent la même chose de celui-ci. Mais relativement peu des deux camps se chevauchent, tant les deux records sont différents. Au moment où ils ont sorti celui-ci, leur transformation de l’ancienne scène Psych de San Francisco à la nouvelle scène country rock de San Francisco était terminée. De manière décisive, cette irrégularité laissera beaucoup dans la poussière. Most of the material sounds kind of medio ordaniable to my ears, but there are also a few very beautiful songs.
"Love is not the way to treat a friend", "Leave me / stay" and "Cemetery of the Academy" are obvious highlights here if you ask me. I don't like country-oriented songs that much. As totality this record gets three stars from me and it's definitely the highest rating I can think of. Clearly weaker than their flawless debut album. Yes, it's a big stylistic shift towards country rock, but luckily they still have some of that older style left over from their killer debut. 'Leave Me Stay' is long, but it harks back to the more fuzz-oriented brooding rock formula from their debut LP. The other side opens with two interesting but everywhere songs called 'They Brought Sadness' and 'Revolution's In My Pocket', and the latter has some cool pace changes and bold guitar work, including a glowing solo. Both album instrumentals are pretty good, a short 'Equinox' and a wild 'Academy Graveyard'. It's not washing in any way. Some consider their first album to be an inexorable masterpiece, and almost an equal number think the same of this one. But relatively few of the two camps overlap, so different are the two records. By the time they released this one, their transformation from the old San Francisco Psych scene to San Francisco's new country rock scene was complete. Decisively, this impropriety will leave many in the dust. Although some of his songs are definitely noncommercial and supposedly psychologically influenced, all in all, it is mostly soft rock powered by acoustic guitar with some country flavor. Just because you liked their first one, don't automatically assume this is going to be a slam dunk, too. Ratings - 2 B's, 2 B's, 2 C's, 2 C's and 2 F.Uneven, I'm sorry, it's not a word for that.
