How does it feel knowing that your greatest achievement in life was a video of a random guy screaming DOOR STUCK into his mic? BTW Nice song, where did you get the background from?
I honestly have to admire the tenacity of the trolls. When I decided to be active on this channel again w music centric stuff I figured if the door stuck fans didn't care they'd just unsub and move on...but as you can see, "door stuck" is on every video. It's whatever honestly...presumably some of them like my new content cause my subscribers keep going up, but i'm sure there are a good amount that just troll with door stuck comments but don't care about anything i upload (or anything else i have in the past lol)
door stuck will always be a classic, watched it back in '08. I had you subbed on one of my old acc's, and when I was getting into post-hardcore n shit back in the day I first heard Wrong by NoMeansNo from your channel, so I've stuck around since then.
As much as I enjoy your music, a lot of your songs are missing something, whether it's more beats, instruments, or bass. A lot of people who make songs who are 'somewhat' an 'amateur' usually just make a beat and are like "oh this is nice". With this, you can't get any where much, you need to genuinely add more to the music but not too much as it can make it a mess. Yes, you can make simple music, but you can't make a good song that has a beat that's on constant repeat and not add anything different or else it'll basically be those background music for games.
Hey first off I genuinely appreciate the feedback, I've been asking for input from every musically-inclined person I know and (positive or negative) it really helps me develop my musical ear and make better tracks.
In general, I agree with you in that I could stand to add more detail in my music now that I'm more comfortable with the fundamentals of mixing/mastering. One thing that I think limits me is how I introduce new instruments/sounds: I usually just do a volume fade-in, but I should experiment more with more creative ways of adding them (reverb, fx, etc). I could also get more creative with the chords I use, but that will just come with practice and learning theory.
What are your opinions on downtempo artists like Bonobo, Boards of Canada, Air etc? Cause those artists are often accused of being uninteresting "background music" but they're some of my biggest influences. Not saying I'm on their level, but I kind of like the chill/hypnotic vibe. In this track, I added some detuning for more "texture" to the sound (if you notice it goes slightly in and out of tune) but I def should add more variation. I'm working on remastering it and adding stuff.
Thanks again and I hope you keep listening! Always open to comments like this.
KinetiK001 after listening to only 3 songs from each artist (which yes, I know is definitely not enough but I think I understand their styles now), I can see that a lot of people hate it, and a lot of people love it. It's the type of music genre that is very hard to popularise as it is extremely simple, I hated it but I also loved it. I hated it because it's instrumentals are extremely simple and feels lazy because of it. But I loved it because of how after understanding how the music are put together and how it can be amazing if you listen it as a whole. Certainly unique but it's not great, it's definitely not going to take off that well, that I can say. Usually in music, you just listen to one instrument like the guitar, drums or bass (even vocals), but this genre requires you to listen to it as a whole. It's pretty much impossible to love the music if you only listen to one instrument. In a nutshell, it's one of the most subjective music genre of seen all day, usually it's whether you despise it or you love it, but I hated this yet I love it.
I get that view and my friends that aren't into downtempo often feel the same way. I've tried to make more upbeat stuff but I always gravitate towards the chill lol. I wanna experiment with techno/house tho
I guess but I accept it. It's not a big deal. I have to admit, me trying to get taken seriously as a musician, while being known for trolling someone in 2007 cause I was a bored teenage nerd IS pretty funny. I was mostly just too lazy to actually start a new channel since I already have an audience here lol
I've actually done most of the 10 year anniversary remix but I haven't done any of the video editing, to me it can be a bit frustrating (since I don't have a lot of video editing experience) but I'll get around to it. If anything, it'll be uploaded in Feb when I'm not working as much
