To be honest, Hooty's personality is pretty accurate to how owls are in real life. They're really violent and messed up, but also really stupid. I mean, seriously, despite owls often being associated with wisdom and all that, they're actually some of the least intelligent birds of prey, and are damn near impossible to train unlike falcons, hawks and eagles.
