Here was a group that refused to play by the rules, a band whose diverse musical influences gained freedom, but who combined their eclectic stylings beautifully into a sound quite uniquely their own. Like most british acts of the day, Skin Alley was indebted to the blues, and the band paid off some of the debt with a barrel-shaped " (Going Down The) Highway." But just as the passages in that song were equally clear, the group was equally captivated by jazz, a style that would be explored more intimately on the atmospheric stunner of "All Alone." This evoked smoky flares, while jazz's more exciting mode gets its claim to the equally excellent "March," which gleefully creeps in and out of the R&B. The set opener, Living in Sin, is a fluttering piece of British R&B, but given the intriguing twist of the Middle East. He had all the singles decorations, but instead a weaker "Tell Me" was selected, although not in the album's original sign, but in the jazzed-up version, which is included in this reissue, along with the B-side "Better Be Blind." But Ale's influences did not end in America, but were also inspired by his own musical heritage, as illustrated by the medieval tinged "Country Aire". Folk is drawn into the modern pop world on an equally one worthy of "Night Time," then enters arenas with the ballad-cum-haunting show-stopper "Mother, Please Help Your Child." It all said that Skin Alley was a stunning debut, with an excellent production by former Pretty Things guitarist Dick Taylor, but, oddly enough, better is yet to come............. ladislav&zivanovic!!!

Comme la plupart des artistes britanniques de l’époque, Skin Alley était redevable au blues, et le groupe a remboursé une partie de la dette avec une « (Going Down The) Highway » en forme de tonneau. Mais tout comme les passages de cette chanson étaient tout aussi clairs, le groupe était tout aussi captivé par le jazz, un style qui serait exploré plus intimement sur l’étourdissement atmosphérique de « All Alone ». Cela a évoqué des fusées éclairantes fumées, tandis que le mode plus excitant du jazz a sa prétention à la « Marche » tout aussi excellente, qui se glisse joyeusement dans et hors du R &B. L’ouvreur de l’ensemble, Living in Sin, est un morceau flottant de R &B britannique, mais compte tenu de la tournure intrigante du Moyen-Orient.
