Yeah, Windows 10 cuts it down to something actually practical to use. It reminds me of how my dad told me about a setting in Mathcad known as "zero tolerance" -- basically how small a number has to be before the program rounds it down to zero. It is configurable, but the default is like 10^(-15)

the login without password was not a easter egg. Windows 9x was not a multi user operating system and did not have proper user accounts. he login window was simply to send username and password information if you were on a network so the servers could send you the right network assets
That calculator thing isnt an easter egg nor a bug. Its a floating point error. Every machine commits a small error when doing an operation. Normally that error its too small to be noticed but sometimes stuff like this happen.

In windows 98 if you type con/con in run it will crash hilariously.. so then I tried to make a shorcut to that, so I can just open that and it would crash... well it did crash right away as soon as I hit ok... but of course it didn't save. So how do you get one of those shortcuts on a windows 98?
Well I tried making one with windows 7 using a HxD editor I saved that on floppy and windows 98 could not even read a floppy with that file on it, so then I just used lan and modified a shortcut with HxD right on the windows 98 desktop... when I was done HxD editor said when I tried to save it, the HxD editor prompted me with an error and there was the message from the windows 98 os basically saying "it's not allowed" something like that and then it asked me if I want to save anyway, of course I did...
So there it was a shortcut pointing to con/con on my desktop... doing anything with this file, even trying to see properties instantly crashes windows and after you reboot it would crash everytime right after the logon sound is played and it tries to show the icons, which windows always processes, so to fix this you have to boot in command prompt only mode and delete that file

0 likesThat calculator thing isnt an easter egg nor a bug. Its a floating point error. Every machine commits a small error when doing an operation. Normally that error its too small to be noticed but sometimes stuff like this happen.

0 likesIn windows 98 if you type con/con in run it will crash hilariously.. so then I tried to make a shorcut to that, so I can just open that and it would crash... well it did crash right away as soon as I hit ok... but of course it didn't save. So how do you get one of those shortcuts on a windows 98?
0 likesWell I tried making one with windows 7 using a HxD editor I saved that on floppy and windows 98 could not even read a floppy with that file on it, so then I just used lan and modified a shortcut with HxD right on the windows 98 desktop... when I was done HxD editor said when I tried to save it, the HxD editor prompted me with an error and there was the message from the windows 98 os basically saying "it's not allowed" something like that and then it asked me if I want to save anyway, of course I did...
So there it was a shortcut pointing to con/con on my desktop... doing anything with this file, even trying to see properties instantly crashes windows and after you reboot it would crash everytime right after the logon sound is played and it tries to show the icons, which windows always processes, so to fix this you have to boot in command prompt only mode and delete that file
