I also once rendered a project in 60 fps, and just think 30 looks a lot better. I animate it in 30, see it in 30, so it was made to be 30. I have the same feeling with this, 30 looks better.
The 60fps looks amazing, I've been interpolating most PMVs anyways just to get a higher framerate. but that always has it's own problems. Although I do play most of my games and such at 85Hz :^T
I really like the 60 FPS version, the 30 FPS version was impressive but the 60 just... damn! In my opinion it adds so much, it feels more immersive, whereas 30 just feels like "another video"
I personally prefer such PMV's in 60 fps. It just looks a lot smoother which is really pleasant to look at. And especially if you work with the kind of shapes you're using, and not use clips from the show or the like, it just makes it better, at least in my opinion.
Although the 30fps looks nice,I do have to say that with 60fps the motion looks smoother and everything looks a bit more h-d. But your work is still great no matter what fps you use.
Please keep doing 60 fps! 30 fps don't do your animation justice at all!
If you're checking who notices: the 3-2-1 scene and the brief zoom-in around 1:17 are at 30 Hz.
Maybe other peoples' eyes are slower, or their visual perception? Maybe they're too used to the stutter, like some are to old mp3 compressor artifacts?
In either case, there's not much to gain from low frame rate, and ultimately, people might frown upon it the same way they frown at VHS videotape resolutions today. Personally, I prefer 720p60 to 2160p30. A gazillion pixels that can't do proper movement aren't much in my eyes.
@VandroiyIII Haha, I was wondering when someone would point out the two 30fps segments. Didn't feel like rendering the intro again since it was in another project and wasn't really part of the video, and the zoom in was bugged in 60fps so I replaced it with the 30 fps for a bit.
60FPS just looks so much more pleasing - idk, every 30FPS PMV seems way too choppy for me, maybe I've adjusted and can see higher frame rates than usual people, I can clearly see a bit difference in frame rate tho :P
@Jasdafrk - Jason 45 wouldn't interfere well with most monitors, which are hard-clocked at 60 Hz. You'd need a FreeSync monitor or likewise and software for it to play 45 fps video properly. (40 fps video on a 120 Hz monitor would work perfectly though.)
But even then, I doubt many people would like it. Those who hate smooth video because it feels strange / "looks like homemade video from those modern cameras" would still hate it. And people like me, who want just the best quality, would obviously ask "why not 60 or more?"
The Hobbit did something like your suggestion with its 48 fps. I wouldn't say it worked out perfectly. To me, it was about the expected: much better than the old, stuttering things, but not as smooth as 60. Some of the ultra-fast pans were still too much IMO, those might need 90 fps aka Oculus Rift speed.
Uww pretty but I personally think 30 fps is better when it comes to animations and stuff. At gameplays I have to say 60 fps is really pretty but unnecessary when it comes to animations. I have to say I actually hate it when people want me to animate in 60 fps, it's just so much work for not a really different looking result.
the more the merrier - stop saying 60fps is bad, it's so f***ing gorgeous, 120fps. 240fps make em rain :D (yeah i know most screens cannot display more than 60fps and that youtube doesn't have this functionality)
Sorry if this sounds stupid, but if a may ask, what is the exact difference? I think I notice a slight change in the flow(??) of the animation, but I'm not exactly sure... can anyone possibly explain the difference to me?
+Dash Shuffling Ehm.... I think you misunderstood something? 60 FPS is just smoother than 30 FPS, 60 FPS isn't faster than 30 it just got double the amount of frames which makes it more smooth....
Not a question, sorry, but would still like an answer (not in a demanding way but as like a favor since I always wanted to get involved and have had no chance to do so). Do you need someone to find songs for you? Like specific songs that could go along with your PMV's? If so, I'd love to help I'd you'd accept me! ^-^ btw keep up your fantastic work! My days get better watching the work you can do! This was posted 2 days after my birthday! :D
Honestly I like 30fps better than 60 in pretty much all PMVs (or rather in pretty much everything but gaming). 60fps just makes the motion seem a bit too smooth, and while maybe some people like it, I find it distracting from the video itself.
@Ipsaeus This is sorta my scrambled thoughts put into words about the issue. Though I don't really find it distracting, just different . Not in necessarily in a bad way, but not in a good way either.
+Ipsaeus +TheAcleps I saw a few AMVs that were beautiful in 60 fps - check out Quantum Ripples and Into the Labyrinth, they play quite well with the added frames (but they used special effects and techniques, too). But I agree, it's a very different experience. It needs driver support and it's not avaiable in HTML5, I believe - because I can't watch it on my Linux machine, which is sad.
@GeFlixes It works on the HTML5 player, I can confirm it, I'm using it ^^ But I'm on Windows, so maybe the problem comes from the fact you are on a Linux build? And I agree Quantum Ripples looks amazing in 60FPS! Nostromo is my favorite AMV editor, he made such incredible AMVs!
@Kyle Schmidt Yeah, the drivers are probably fucked up, I'm getting problems with OS and prop drivers. At least I'm getting a new graphics card next month. Heard the new generation NVidea works like a charm with Linux.
I still miss having awesomenew content from you. I hope you're doing well wherever you are, or whatever you're doing tho 😊

16 likesHell no, 60 makes me trippy, like I'm high!
It's quite another experience with 60 fps, and as a gamer I find it beautiful.
2 likesSo if it really doesn't slow you down, I'm all for it!
the amount of imagination this must have taken. truly a special piece of work. this is a pure work of effort and guts.
