As a flight attendant, you (in your blissfully unaware state) would have been like a dream passenger, not doing all the dramatic screaming and shouting.
But it's really bad that you didn't know what was happening, because if it was an emergency landing then the flight attendants should have been making sure you all knew the brace position and stuff...
Also if it helps, dodgy landing gears are not super unusual, and even though you're not going to have a 'standard' landing (for example, if the undercarriage doesn't come down at all, it's called a bellyflop) it's a situation where the pilots and the services on the ground have LOADS of time to prepare, like spraying fire fighting foam on the runway and stuff like that. So your chances of dying are still very slim.
Nonetheless, glad you got back ok and hope your next flying experience is less traumatic!

I can relate to you very much. I had just a 2 and a bit hour flight. every time the plane shook or turned even an inch i freaked out but i had to keep it cool so i watched PLL cause they had some on the plane. I fucking hate and love planes. also the waiting period before you board the planes it the most stressful for me cause I'm just thinking of all the possibilities but then i just have to distract my mind. Random spam. DONE. sorry.

I actually had such a similar experience! I was on the plane watching some film and it had me so totally absorbed that I didn't notice that we'd flown into a storm and there was lightening right out the window and crazy turbulence. My friends were telling me afterwards and I'd had zero clue what was going on lol.

My first plane ride I was around 7 and we were coming into Detroit. I don't remember what was wrong but when we landed it was EXTREMELY BUMPY. My parents had their arms in front of my brother and I, everyone was yelling and once we landed everyone was cheering and clapping. I was seven and this was my first plane ride so I just clapped right along! Then one day it dawned on me "that wasn't normal was it" it took me such along time to figure that out😂

Glad you're back all in one piece and cute as always! I'm so sad though: I had two tickets to see you in Indianapolis and I had a major panic attack an hour before I was supposed to leave for it. Then figuring my friend could at least drive and I'd push myself to go, my friend backed out. I ended up hyperventilating though anyway and passing out and there was no way I could drive myself to Indy to come :( Life is weird sometimes.

On the other hand, glad you didn't die. You're the first youtuber I've consistently followed in goodness knows how many years, and I'm really happy to hear that you're safe. Never personally had a near death plane experience before, but my friends have experienced an incredibly strong turbulence before. My friend's mum was unaware that she was quietly speaking/praying in tongues during the flight so when the plane very suddenly dropped a few feet, she exclaimed something very loudly. Not sure exactly what it was.
XD ah yes, mini wills. I did a few in high school. Not cause I was suicidal or anything, there were just moments in my life where I suddenly became very aware of how death can come very unexpectedly. But am very glad that that is not the case here :) and that you've arrived home safely ^_^

One time I was flying from London Heathrow - the Minneapolis US airport (going back to Canada) and the weather got really bad. So we landed and everything, but when I went to get to my Minneapolis - Winnipeg flight I found that it was cancelled. And there wouldn't be a flight till 22 figgin' hours later!
So I sobbed, called my mum, and calmed down.
THEN. I FOUND OUT THEY WEREN'T OFFERING HOTEL ROOMS.
WHAAT?
SO I ended up sleeping in the airport, in a secluded booth with my bags all tucked around me.

I have had a flight take 2 1/2 hours when it was supposed to be 4 hours. You were totally right it was possible. Hope you sleep well.

This reminds me of an experience I recently had on a train. I was travelling from london cannon street and it broke down, so I was stuck on it for about two hours, then there was an announcement that it had to go back to cannon street. So I waited for another 40 minutes, then we had to go back to the station and wait for the next train, which was in half an hour as it was quite late. Oh, and that was delayed so I had to wait for 50 minutes in total. Fifty more minutes! Thanks, southeastern railway! Sorry, I need to stop complaining.

Haha so glad you're back home safe! Something similar happened to me 2 years ago. It was a bumpy ride but I thought it was turbulence. It was a bumpy landing and I looked out the window and saw loads of fire engines. 😱🚒 we landed, everyone clapped, the fire engines blasted the wheels with water and I snapchatted it because I've never seen it before. In the car home, my mum said she saw people holding hands, the brakes were faulty and she was thinking what she would do to save us if something happened. I didn't know it was so serious and my sister was oblivious to it all. Xx

This video reminded me of when I was flying back form Florida at Christmas
Everything was going great until we hit some turbulence, everything was still good just a little bit bumpy. Plane dropped like 5000000000000 feet, people screamed (even the air steward holy shit) someone hit their head, kids threw up everywhere
My dad slept through the whole damn thing. Every last bit, didn't even know what had happened until we landed at Gatwick and some girl threw up. Meanwhile I'm sat there crying and hyperventilating

Oh lord. When I was 8 1/2, my family took a flight to Boston (we were coming from Houston, TX) and the plane had to make an emergency stop in NYC. I don't know exactly what was wrong with the plane, but I remember that there was crazy turbulence and then all of a sudden the flight attendant said "Our captain has informed me that there is an issue and we are currently free falling. No need to panic, he's sure he'll be able to get it up and running soon." and I was just like free falling? I'm like literally sky diving but still in the plane?! COOL!
Mind you, coffee was going everywhere, my baby sister was crying, my dad was trying not to freak out and I just yelled out "GUYS, WE'RE ALL CROSSING THIS OFF OUR BUCKET LISTS" and my mom was yelling at me to sit down and then I remember singing the pokemeon theme song....and maybe a bit of I'll make a man out of you. (it was also the 90s, so I had my gameboy but I get really travel sick so I wasn't playing it)

And we literally crash landed at the end of a runway in NYC.

I'm quite certain if I was an adult and heard it I would have had a similar reaction to you....but I'm glad when we have music going that we simply have the blissful ignorance and imagination of a child...

My sister was quite upset that her blues clues coloring book was ruined.

Whenever the flight is a little bumpy and maybe the seatbelt signs turn on or we are near a landing and the lights go off and then the plane turns a bit I'm almost in tears. I'm so desperately annoyed by myself for that but I cannot stop myself 😂

It's more probable and common that one the gear lights on the flight instrument panel went out. If the pilots can't guarantee that wheels are up and are still close to their departure point, they'll turn around, else they divert to the nearest airport that can handle their aircraft. Happens more often than you'd think. Also sounds like you had a bounced landing, which isn't as rare as one would think.

3:08 - Reminds me of when the 5.8 earthquake hit Virginia a few years back. This was my first experience with such a thing but when I realized it was a quake (after originally assuming a huge truck smashed into the house), I was like "Ah, cool! An earthquake!" Anyway, your video here should be a learning tool for anyone who lets their emotions engulf them in bad situations. Try to remain calm until something really bad happens, then react to it and take action. Just like the earthquake for me, I saw everything shaking and rumbling but remained calm until I saw things falling (nothing really did). It's just workout process of the mind, like you workout any muscle on your body, over time it gets much stronger the more you work it out.

Don't know how I would've coped in that situation tbh, thank god you didn't hear anything! I just love how blissfully unaware you were that you were in a completely different CONTINENT to what you thought you were

A good thing about being suicidal is that whenever you are in a life and death situation you are not really freaked out. I had a flight earlier this year and my siblings were freaking out but I was sure that if there was any emergency, I wouldn't mind helping them to safety cuz I really wouldn't mind dying either way :3

This saga on Twitter had me freaking out omg. Glad ur ok xx

One of my earliest memories (if not my earliest memory) is when I was on a plan with my parents and my nanny (That's right! My parents bought my nanny with us so they could drink....?) and as we were landing presumable on the way back a shit tone of turblance went down and the oxygen masks came out of the compartments.

Now I actually have NO idea how young I was I THINK it was like a year or 2? maybe younger (Those who are the Youtube expects of how old you are when you first have memories feel free to pile in cause I think I only remember cause at the time it was kinda traumatic) but What I remember is there being a massive crashy thing oxygen masks going down and everyone panicking, except my dad who kinda just sat there reading a book ignoring my mum and swatting people trying to get an oxygen mask on him, whilst my mum and my nanny screamed and got the masks on and I think me?

Later on I learned that apparently the plane had just landed really hard and forced the oxygen masks out of the compartments and there never was an emergency xD
Just shows me planes are useless

Problems with landing gear like that are pretty common though and pilots are trained for pretty much every emergency situation with something failing so you're all good really

I got an interview for British airways on the day one of their jet engines blew up in Las Vegas and had to make emergency landing. In the interview I mentioned it as a joke 'British airways has a good reputation.... Until nine days ago' and they cracked up laughing and said the story of when I got the interview and read the email, and open up an evening standard to see the story. And they were historical. Best interviewers I've ever had. I didn't get the job but it was a good experience

Yesterday I was flying back to the UK from Portugal, so it was only a 3 hour flight (I was flying from the coast of Portugal to Birmingham airport) and I was with school, and I was placed by myself next to two really fat and smelly people (one had leopard print hair and a massive gown/dress and they looked about 60) and we had to make an emergency landing somewhere and bearing in mind I was with school and about 200 miles away from home, so we had to stay in the airport until the next flight which was at 4 am, so we all sat for 6 hours waiting and once we got on the next flight I was sat on the front row with this kid who dribbled on his shoulder and the mum kept shouting in the very UK chav voice, then an hour later when we landed, they forgot all our baggage and it had been left in the last airport so we had to go home with no bags at 6 am i sat in stand still traffic for 2 hours needed to piss real bad on the a42. I was meant to get home at 11pm the night before but I arrived home 9am this morning.

Really long comment just my worst story of a plane ride which happened literally yesterday 😂😂

Every time I have to go on plane, there's always TERRIBLE turbulence. My sister had a panic attack, and apparently I was really calm, it looked like I didn't care but inside I was crying, screaming, and just...praying to god.
