4. A few of you have commented that this series is bland and formulaic. I don't necessarily disagree. The point of this series is to give me something to work on that's quick and easy to fill space in between regular uploads. (Gotta titillate that algorithm, bois.) Each episode uses the same template to save time and allow me to focus more on writing. Keep in mind that I'm a full-time college student and I often have to prioritize school-work over YouTube. This series is mostly a tool to keep this channel afloat during busier periods. In the past, I've uploaded nothing between big videos and YouTube stopped sending my vids out to people. Even though this series is a bit more dull then some of you (and I) would like, I still try to put effort into it and mean what I say.
I agree with your critiques on memes and how you do it, your actually explaining the meme and how it holds up. Your not pandering to normies, talking down to them, I hope you do well in college!
I will say this one was better, and actually a good one. There is a good chunk that I would say is only a bit better than Behind the meme, I wouldn't say any of them are lower or the exact same. They may not be doing the same thing. I did comment why It was a lot like Behind the meme comparing what you did vs what he did in one of the video's and that was last video. There are differences but felt like the same product, or maybe I just expected more.
I've been loving the series so far, I think the videos benefit from reusing the template, it makes them feel part of the same product or family of videos, like series intros are (generally) the same for all episodes, or only change from one season from the next, it gives different content in the same presentation. :)
This series is great, your editing is excellent and I would even say that it's the best series on your channel so far (although I do prefer when you talk about how messed up youtube is). Maybe my opinion is unpopular, but anyways, thanks for continuing making videos.

I believe you should do memes that you think haven't had enough credit, or wasn't given a fair chance, history wasn't fully covered and etc. Like, look at internet historian. His "Pools Closed video was a perfect thing to talk about, since it's history wasn't fully tapped and showed some new things not many people talked about. But the thing that makes Internet Historian's videos his, is the fact he shows why the meme turned into a meme in the first place. Like the Ugandan Knuckles video you showed pictures and video of it, and used those pictures and videos to empathize why it went down hill. It's like a teacher giving an F on someone's grade and not explaining why it was given, how it can be fixed, and refuses to talk about it. That's how I felt about this video. I was given not much information about aside "It's another sponge bob meme and it's bad and unoriginal". I have no idea how the meme even worked. I could research it myself on the internet, and not saying that I wouldn't, but the purpose of this series is to COVER THE MEME AND WHAT IT'S GENERALLY ABOUT. By me searching up what this meme is about, it would completely ruin the purpose of these videos. And I understand your a college student as of 2018, and I understand you need for subs to get all notifications. But like the #1 You-tuber on this platform, he doesn't just fill his YouTube videos with nothing being gained or left with. When you watch one of his videos, he fills it with quick information to keep the viewer interested. Now, i'm not saying the most subscribed You-Tuber is perfect, he can be quite the opposite sometimes. But these channels know how they work. You need to find that certain space you can fit in, and not have to have 30 seconds of you talking about the meme, some time of the meme being explained with images and videos, and then give it a rating at the end. I'm not saying you have to do anything I suggested. What I am saying is that you should at least expand on this in 60 seconds. If you read this entire thing, thank you. If you didn't, thank you for at least noticing it.
I thought it was already established in previous videos that this was going to be both a simple, appetizer sort of series to keep the channel active and a reminder that BTM's concept of meme education isn't inherently bad, but his approach to it with bloated, lazy videos does more harm than good... that your "formulaic" approach was intentionally designed to be like BTM, except without the bullshit and filler that he generously stuffs in his content. The rest of us can type that BTM is awful, but you put in the effort to genuinely prove it. I might be wrong about all this. I have a bad habit of reading more into something than I should.
I'm really glad I did the unthinkable and read a comment the creator made to explain things. As much as I like this new series, I really noticed it had a repetitive (but still interesting) formula, and thought it may soon make you look hypocritical, since one of your big criticisms of BtM was his repetitive formula per video. But reading this puts that concern of mine to rest. And it reminds me of why your content is respectable, as well as funny. You're actually willing to be aware of people, and things, and all that stuff that makes people decent.

About your fourth point, sure it's formulaic, but if something isn't broke, I would say that there's no need to fix it. Besides, the whole asthetic of this series is very relaxing and easy to digest while still having lots of clever jokes and visual flavor. It's not YTP in terms of complexity, but I don't think it needs to be. Sometimes in design simpler is better. And the design fits the content. I like this series quite a bit, even if it is formulaic. But that might just be my nostalgia for Windows XP talking haha.

I think that Portrayed memes in general are pretty innocent most of the time. Does this mean that they’re not effortless? No, not at all, however, portrayed memes are pretty wide ranging because it is such a normie friendly meme. It’s by no means cancerous like savage Patrick or this one, but it’s still undoubtedly a normie meme. I’d say that it’s just bland and harmless in terms of memes.

This is just bizarre. Back in the day, memes used to be original, and last for months, if not years. Now they're mostly unoriginal copycats, and they pop up and die so quickly, you don't even have time to notice that they even existed. Is this really the future of memes? A lot of memes are just reaction images with like, a text or picture superimposed on it, the ease in which to make them is devaluing the meme currency and we're going to hit a meme depression real soon.
0:38 each of these memes are distinct and different... the only thing making them similar is that they are used to compare two things.. you vs the guy she tells you not to worry about - this meme is usually used to compare something to a counterpart of different quality, and its usually of the subject of people hand/finger - this one is used to express an opinion on which is better, usually going for the opposite thing for subversion comedy. guy checking out other girl - this meme is used to describe something you have vs something you want, but shouldnt have. drifting car - this one is admittedly similar to the one above, but its still a little different, because its more what you should have compared to what you get purposefully... in a way.. you know what i mean. and this new one is just a direct comparison, just saying that one is objectively better than the other... usually using an image rather than text. like, the other ones can use images, but usually use text, this its the other way around.

This is why i don't like "template" memes. They are so quick and easy to make, you just need to slap some text or pictures on, which also makes it really accessible to normies. Other than that, they also tend to be very restrictive in scope, so you can't get all that creative with them.
Check out the "legally allowed to leave" meme. It's interesting because it's unique but also boring as fuck. The memes seem like they're referring to something crazy, but the punchline is dead on arrival. Well Mr fantano simply came up with a delicious original series that was better than anything Kyle was showing but rather than trying to come up with something new and innovative Kyle insists on stealing the know you're meme articles to save his business, of course on YouTube Kyle always fails, but this channel represents what happens when Kyle gains views five times in a row. This channel is just a stolen essay. Explained memes are just stolen essays. Heck even this comment is just a stolen essay, the difference being that I remixed into something new and distinct. There's fine line between innovating an essay and straight up copying it and this channel crosses the line. Supporting this channel is supporting the business model of behind the meme so stop celebrating unoriginality, there are plenty of other channels in YouTube.
Actually, plankton and Mr.Krabs made the recipe for krabby patties together back when they were friends, but fought over it and ripped it in half. His "Pools Closed video was a perfect thing to talk about, since it's history wasn't fully tapped and showed some new things not many people talked about. But the thing that makes Internet Historian's videos his, is the fact he shows why the meme turned into a meme in the first place. Like the Ugandan Knuckles video you showed pictures and video of it, and used those pictures and videos to empathize why it went down hill. It's like a teacher giving an F on someone's grade and not explaining why it was given, how it can be fixed, and refuses to talk about it. That's how I felt about this video. I was given not much information about aside "It's another sponge bob meme and it's bad and unoriginal". I have no idea how the meme even worked. I could research it myself on the internet, and not saying that I wouldn't, but the purpose of this series is to COVER THE MEME AND WHAT IT'S GENERALLY ABOUT. By me searching up what this meme is about, it would completely ruin the purpose of these videos. And I understand your a college student as of 2018, and I understand you need for subs to get all notifications. But like the #1 You-tuber on this platform, he doesn't just fill his YouTube videos with nothing being gained or left with. When you watch one of his videos, he fills it with quick information to keep the viewer interested. Now, i'm not saying the most subscribed You-Tuber is perfect, he can be quite the opposite sometimes. But these channels know how they work. You need to find that certain space you can fit in, and not have to have 30 seconds of you talking about the meme, some time of the meme being explained with images and videos, and then give it a rating at the end. I'm not saying you have to do anything I suggested. What I am saying is that you should at least expand on this in 60 seconds. If you read this entire thing, thank you. If you didn't, thank you for at least noticing it.

0 likesI thought it was already established in previous videos that this was going to be both a simple, appetizer sort of series to keep the channel active and a reminder that BTM's concept of meme education isn't inherently bad, but his approach to it with bloated, lazy videos does more harm than good... that your "formulaic" approach was intentionally designed to be like BTM, except without the bullshit and filler that he generously stuffs in his content. The rest of us can type that BTM is awful, but you put in the effort to genuinely prove it. I might be wrong about all this. I have a bad habit of reading more into something than I should.

As much as I like this new series, I really noticed it had a repetitive (but still interesting) formula, and thought it may soon make you look hypocritical, since one of your big criticisms of BtM was his repetitive formula per video. 0 likesAbout your fourth point, sure it's formulaic, but if something isn't broke, I would say that there's no need to fix it. Besides, the whole asthetic of this series is very relaxing and easy to digest while still having lots of clever jokes and visual flavor. It's not YTP in terms of complexity, but I don't think it needs to be. Sometimes in design simpler is better. And the design fits the content. I like this series quite a bit, even if it is formulaic. But that might just be my nostalgia for Windows XP talking haha.
