I can only recommend the Pinebook Pro! It is a $200 full size laptop running manjaro. It works super well for me and is a lot cheaper that this build :)
i have a had a similar setup in the past. it’s in that gray area / fringe area of where a laptop would actually be much better that carrying all that stuff and having more power in a single unit. one “upgrade” i recommend is switching out to a bootable ssd - even a budget one like a kingdian for $20+. boots much faster. but the smartipi case gives it mounting options that a laptop may not be able to do. also, you can hook up a pi directly to either a portable ips display via hdmi with audio, or even a tablet (android or ipad pro via usb c) and ssh / vnc into that for a cleaner grab-and-go setup. so many ways. 👍
Cool stuff, I was planning to get a screen and keyboard for mine, as right now it is only controlled via ssh which is quite a pain in the ass. I've used tightvnc to try to alleviate the issue though
The fact that it’s ARM made some softwares unavailable. I’m not saying that you cannot compile your own armhf or arm64 version but some are closed-source, which makes it even harder
I feel like most people who actually buy this are using it for nafarious purposes, the only time I've used Kail Linux was to hack into someone's wifi at my grandmas apartment cause she doesn't use computers.
Tbh though for this stuff wouldn't a laptop work just as good, I would much rather carry around a laptop as I just enjoy the classical laptop design. Or do you need a special wifi adapter to send out weird obscure hacker packets or something?
Ok internet hackerman. I bought all the items using your affiliate links with my mommies credit card. When do I get to hack the declaration of independence?

6 likesYou should put affiliate links, as these videos are really helpful and I'd be happy to buy this kit through your affiliate links.

Basically the chipset needs to support monitor mode as well as injection mode, 99.9% of WIfi adapters do not.
0 likesTranslation: yes you need a"special" wifi antenna.
