I also found Windows Media Player 8 running, revealing that the background music that was playing was just playing in there on repeat and not part of the kiosk app. I restarted the kiosk app afterward, but forgot to restart the music.
Edit: The infrared touchscreen was just running through an 'IrTouch Control' app (at least that's what I think it was called) that then emulated a mouse.
On a school trip to the UK we went to a museum which was within a cave. Said museum had some screens where a low-quality "game" that was essentially just slideshows with a few buttons was shown. Turns out, while they only gave you a mouse to control it just right clicking was enough to break it. It allowed you to move to the "next" or "previous" slide, and to just straight up close the game.
I recall a few malware issues where I took the s.a.d approach also just usb booted and ripped out the sys file it added and nuked temp sometimes it can be fun but mostly annoying.
