They left Scootaloo behind at such a fragile age when she needed them the most and then they wanna take her away against will from all the life she build... that's some good parenting right there.
The main qualm I have with Scootaloo's parents is that they only agreed to let her stay after being shown how important her work in the CMCs was. Their final decision was based on the value of her work, rather than the importance of her feelings.
9:53 "They just leave her alone for years, come back for a day and say 'Yeah, you're leavin' everything behind'." Look out, Spoiled Rich! You've got some competition for the title of Worst Parent.
@@Narrator007 I mean he did kinda sacrifice himself to save the earth and told his son his last goodbyes before he did and then he got revived like 7 years later or 8 and greeted his son again after he grew up and didn’t ask him to abandon the life he once lived to move somewhere else
Kinda disappointed with their role and only appearance in this episode, I mean they just leave their child for most of her life and then come back and go like “yeah pack your stuff we’re moving” I mean might as well made scootaloo an orphan since her parents didn’t leave that good of an impression on the fanbase that much. Might as well say Goku’s a better parent 😂
This was the episode I cried the most on the whole show. I felt tense about the episode since I saw the title, when I still was watching the beginning of the season. The chances of Sccotaloo staying or going with her parents was 50-50, imo. Both ways made sense.
Well, it is confirmed that Scootaloo does in fact have parents, about time we got to see them in the show. This really is a wholesome episode. It was great to see all these characters that the CMC helped out through the course of this show. Nice to know that these guys are supportive to the CMC and their knack for finding the purpose of every creature in Equestria and beyond.
Also, I like Scoots’ parents, they are very cool. Their designs were a nice nod to Steve Irwin and Jane Goodall.
I consider Scootaloo's parents straight up abusive. The end of the episode did not even come close to redeeming them. Because it should never have gotten to that. Isolating your child after abandoning them for years is child abuse, straight up. Changing your mind only after the entire town celebrates how important it is for your child to stay does not change that. And no obligation in the world, especially not a job, can justify the actions of Scootaloo's parents.
And for those planning to argue, Scootaloo's safety was clearly not the main concern. At most, that was just the excuse to force Scootaloo to move. The actions of her parents didn't at any point show that they cared about Scootaloo's safety or general well-being in the slightest. As clearly demonstrated by how they left her alone for years and allowed a cragodile to enter her classroom. And actions speak far louder than words.
I was seriously not expecting this episode, and I was not expecting Scoot's parents to be who they are. Cragodile Dundee and Jane Goodall (er, sorry...Mane Allgood :P).
This was a pretty solid episode, but it kind made Parental Glidance feel less special. The theory that Scootaloo was an Orphan was pretty much unanimously accepted by the fandom and much of the staff. I'm glad to see they are alive and that Scootaloo is happy, but the emotions we felt in Season 7 when Scootaloo gave that speech about not having parents to support her just feels underwhelming now that we know it wasn't as serious.
They come to see her, she doubts they will stay to tomorrow, and they disregarded her feelings and clearly knew nothing about her life even though they claimed to read her letters Skoot is justified feeling left behind
JayJayForce The way I see it, if I knew my parents were out there, destined to return, while in the mean time, I could still write to them, I would still feel a level of connection with them as well as something to look forward to. It would give me a reason to have hope to see them again. If they were dead, it would be just flat out, 'your parents are dead and not coming back'. That's when your forced to find comfort somewhere else, whereas like Scootaloo here, you'd have temporary comfort with your guardians with reserved comfort saved up for when your parents return.
@@TheBlackQueen I wouldn't say she's angry at them at all. It's more that she needs to justify them putting their job over looking after and being there for her. More a desperate need to explain away feelings of abandonment. And that really is what they've done. It's not like they're busy and she only sees them for an hour every day or once every few weeks. To me it came off as this being the first time she's seen her parents since before the show started. Several years. She might only really know them via letters and cards etc, not actual memories. That's more than your parents not being around often. I'm honestly not sure if I'd take that over my parents being dead, but I definitely wouldn't take it well. It's not even that they need that job to support her, they just care about it more than about her.
JayJayForce I wouldn't say that's worse. I'd very much take having long distance parents than no parents at all. Scootaloo hasn't shown any real anger at her parents for not being with her through the years. Yes, it is also a sad situation that would still fit what she said in Parental Glidence well, but at that point, we all believed it to be much darker because it was heavily implied for years that she had no parents. It's like if after we got The Perfect Pear, we got an episode saying that they just moved away for some important reason. There's a big difference in tone and emotion between your parents not being around often and your parents being dead.
Not really. She has parents, but how often does she see them? Once every few months or once every few years? Sure, they can send letters to each other, but given how her parents completely ignored her desires and seemed completely ignorant of a major part of her life, I'm unsure as to how much they ever paid attention to that. Her parents may have been alive, but they certainly weren't there. In a way, that's even worse. They're not dead or anything, they just care more about their job than about her. It helps explain why she was so excited and adamant about how important her parent's job was. Believing their job being of critical importance helps cover up the emotional damage of being neglected like that. It gives an excuse for the emotional trauma of being left alone for years.
It's a little bit weird how Rarity has kind of become Sweetie Belle's de facto authority figure despite the fact that their parents also live in Ponyville. We just haven't really seen or heard from them at all since season one.
So bad for all the fan fictions and theories about Orphan Scootaloo!! The episode who i am sure, shocked the C.M.C fans a lot(in a good way or a bad way). 8 years of Fan Made videos, Fan fictions and theorizing being scrapped in this episode!!!
I think that in S7 E7 Scootaloo said she had no one motivating her like RDs parents because her's never got to spend time with her because of their job.
I was fucking disappointed that she has parents. The moment with scoot during parental glidance made it seem like she was an orphan. The fact that she has aunts that care for her is alright. But overall she should have been an orphan. Soooo disappointed
The one time that I didn't scroll down slowly is.... Something. Am I weird? Are you weird? Did you really want someone to be an orphan? Did I read that right?
Out of the many ideas of what Scootaloo's parents are like, Steve Irwin and Jane Goodall were NOT on the list. Absolutely shocking. But the thing that confuses me is, Scootaloo doesn't look even remotely like either of them.
What kind of parents abandon there fuil pony kid and then all of sudden say we are coming to see you and then say we are moving away so you have to come with us
I must admit I don't like scootalooa parents much since they didn't take scootaloos feelings into consideration and acted like nothing was wrong even tho she was really upset. Not to mention she was living with her aunts so it didn't make much sense to make her move in the first place. Not a bad episode tho mind you since they were redeemed in the end even if it was forced.
Another abhorrent season 9 episode. Scootaloo’s parents are emotionally abusive and just all-around shitty people, much worse than even Rainbow Dash’s parents. And as much as I love Holiday and Lofty, their existence completely retcons what Scootaloo said back in Parental Glideance in season 7.
