Ovo je najnovije izdanje američkog progresivnog simfonijskog rock benda NORTH STAR, iako je iz 1992. godine. Glazba slijedi istu liniju kao i njihova prethodna izdanja "Triskelion" (1984) i "Feel The Cold" (1985). NORTH STAR ima sjajne glazbene vještine i dobri su skladatelji. Među njima su i klavijaturistički maestro Kevin Leonard, također poznat po solo albumima "Escape", "Crystal Influence", "On The Edge" i "Automatrix". Moram reći da mi se Kevinovi solo albumi više sviđaju od NORTH STAR-a. Kevinova izdanja su instrumentalna i složenija od NORTH STAR-a. Sve u svemu, ipak je to dobro izdanje s velikom snagom. NORTH STAR ima planove za novo CD izdanje sredinom kraja 2000. Pazite na to!Na neki način ovaj album je poboljšanje u odnosu na prethodni album North Stara, Feel The Cold. Glavna razlika je dodavanje gitarista Davea Johnsona. On je puno bolji gitarist od pjevača/basista Joea Newmana, a čini se da to također oslobađa Newmana da svira bolje bas linije nego na prethodnom albumu.Još uvijek postoji vrlo jak utjecaj Genesisa. U lice, jedna pjesma, Other Side Of Same čini se da snažno podsjeća na Watcher Of The Skies (nije loše mjesto za crpiti inspiraciju). No, najbolja pjesma na ovom albumu je Meltdown spomenutog gitarista. Ovaj instrumentalni komad povlači povoljnu usporedbu s nekim od frank zappa je kasno razdoblje gitara solo djela. Mislim da je bend to znao, jer udaraljke i klavijature zvuče kao da su trebale zvučati kao Zappa pratitelji.

This is the latest edition of the American progressive symphony rock band NORTH STAR, although it is from 1992. Music follows the same line as their previous releases "Triskelion" (1984) and "Feel The Cold" (1985). NORTH STAR has great musical skills and are good composers. Among them are keyboard maestro Kevin Leonard, also known for his solo albums "Escape", "Crystal Influence", "On The Edge" and "Automatrix". I have to say, I like Kevin's solo albums better than NORTH STAR. Kevin's releases are instrumental and more complex than NORTH STAR. All in all, it is nevertheless a good edition with great force. NORTH STAR has plans for a new CD release in mid-late 2000. Keep an eye on it! In a way, this album is an improvement over North Star's previous album, Feel The Cold. The main difference is the addition of guitarist Dave Johnson. He's a much better guitar player than singer/bassist Joe Newman, and it also seems to free up Newman to play better bass lines than on his previous album. There is still a very strong influence of Genesis. In the face, one song, Other Side Of Same seems to strongly resemble Watcher Of The Skies (not a bad place to draw inspiration). But the best song on this album is Meltdown of the aforementioned guitarist. This instrumental piece draws a favorable comparison to some of Frank Zappa's late-period guitar solo acts. I think the band knew that, because percussion and keyboards sound like they were supposed to sound like Zappa escorts.

Il s’agit de la dernière édition du groupe de rock symphonique progressif américain NORTH STAR, bien qu’elle date de 1992. La musique suit la même ligne que leurs précédents albums « Triskelion » (1984) et « Feel The Cold » (1985). NORTH STAR a de grandes compétences musicales et sont de bons compositeurs. Parmi eux se trouvent le maestro du clavier Kevin Leonard, également connu pour ses albums solo « Escape », « Crystal Influence », « On The Edge » et « Automatrix ». Je dois dire que j’aime mieux les albums solo de Kevin que NORTH STAR. Les sorties de Kevin sont instrumentales et plus complexes que NORTH STAR. Dans l’ensemble, c’est néanmoins une bonne édition avec une grande force. NORTH STAR prévoit une nouvelle sortie de CD à la mi-fin de 2000. Gardez un œil dessus! D’une certaine manière, cet album est une amélioration par rapport à l’album précédent de North Star, Feel The Cold. La principale différence est l’ajout du guitariste Dave Johnson. Il est un bien meilleur guitariste que le chanteur / bassiste Joe Newman, et il semble également libérer Newman pour jouer de meilleures lignes de basse que sur son album précédent. Il y a encore une très forte influence de la Genèse. En face, une chanson, Other Side Of Same semble ressembler fortement à Watcher Of The Skies (pas un mauvais endroit pour s’inspirer). Mais la meilleure chanson de cet album est Meltdown du guitariste susmentionné. Cette pièce instrumentale établit une comparaison favorable avec certains des actes de guitare solo de frank Zappa à la fin de la période. Je pense que le groupe le savait, parce que les percussions et les claviers sonnent comme s’ils étaient censés sonner comme des escortes Zappa.
