I have an offtopic question for you. I saw multiple videos where someone used wine and injected the wannacry.exe into it. what happened was that the files outside of wine also got encrypted. how does this even work? really wanna understand it but I found none who had a good answer.
WINE translates Windows native function calls to Linux calls and isn't sandboxed, all the directories are exposed. If you run a Windows ransomware with root access (!) and you don't notice wine is still being executed after a while you'll lose your files.
