We need a tempmap thats like an 9 month old backup so when the actual map is ready, things havent really passed in the game world I suppose. OR temp map is the OLDEST backup of 2b2t the admin(s) has, which would be quite small and probably easy to just run compared to normal 2b
There’s also the nostalgia factor or older versions, kinda like 2b as a way to play the prime years of Mc. It’s hard to find servers running on older versions these days.

Isn’t the primary source of the problem the lack of something like “multi-threading,” which would allow for multiple CPUs to work together to run and manage Minecraft? Isn’t it that if someone modified Minecraft/made a plug-in to allow for multi-threading that the files could be updated magnitudes faster and the server could run extremely well?
I would love 1.17 update as it would not only corrupt the world but also imagine the chunk errors if it did work.
But I should also say Hause is really greedy. So the possibility of duel booting the server on separate hardware then transferring to that better hardware will never happen unless he stops earning money. As long as the new players get rotated in and out there will always be enough money.
I’m not that bothered what version the server is on because I don’t play the server enough to have that level of investment. I only started playing again a month ago, after a year hiatus, and coming back in with everything that has changed community side is more enjoyable than having blue wood blocks or goats.
That being said, as you put it, the majority of committed community members don’t care that much about Minecraft, more the *’2b experience’*. Usually, it’s just New players that want to be part of the YouTube sensation, but it feels like more and more of the old guard have turned into content creator shills as of late. Much of the player base thinks of 2b as a glorified faction celebrity griefpocolypse than a funny and chaotic server, which gets draining. Personally I don’t have the energy to deal with a bunch of autistic attention whores.
Also, for all of the other issues with Hause, I think his biggest deficit is that he lacks the technical know-how to properly invest in the server beyond its mere existence. Unfortunately, while there’s a bunch of talented people in the community, we’ve also proved time and time again we can’t be trusted to help without back-footing, data ripping, and generally misusing the server. Hause stubbornly pushes forward without the technical capabilities that would be expected of a server so popular and revered.
Finally though, if by some magic an update came out, it would be an absolute shit show of awesome. Anything to destroy the status quo that the big groups set on the server is fucking great, and honestly any chance I get to knock emporium down a peg is a big win in my book.
personally, i like 2b staying on 1.12. i miss the older aspects of minecraft being a person who started playing during 2012 and theres not many servers that i like which are still running 1.12 and 2b is just a fun server to play on for me
Honestly, i think 2b2t can stay on 1.12. I mean i myself actually almost only play on 1.8, as i main pvp. If the pvp community still enjoys a version that was made in 2014, the 2b2t community can probably handle a version made in 2018.
The problem is the version is no longer supported by debug mods which basically remove bugs and make the server run smoothly if a problem happens in the server the owner has to do it that’s why housemaster wants to use the newer versions problem is it takes forever to update and load a map of 2b2t size.
Technically, what Hause could do to update to 1.16.x would be to use a modified URL like 2b2tclassic.org for the old map and host 2b2t.org as the update. Priority que could still be done, and it could allow for more people to play. However, the same world seed could be used for both maps allowing for some interesting things.
And even then, Hause could still world edit in bases from the old map, for a fee mind you.
If he was going to transfer chunks as they're loaded, he would probably have to code the transfer himself. So why not add multi thread support while at it?
My opinion on this is simply that if it updates great, if it doesn't, I the admins have the ability to actually get plugins made for the server to patch exploits.
I was always wondering if there couldn't be just a mod with items from newer versions for 1.12.2, something like the huge mod packs like RLcraft with a lot of new items, but idk if that's viable.
@Hei plugins can't really add new stuff without it looking terrible. Even if you were to make a plugin adding new items, updating to new versions where said items actually exist would be impossible
Cave update also has some optimization but with that said you can’t load old worlds in the snapshots so it is possible you meant not be able to load old worlds in the full update

Another reason 2b2t shouldn't update is because of the fact that Mojang and Microsoft are becoming more and more woke as time goes on. If 2b2t updated, it would be more vulnerable to their abuse of power.
Now concerning 2b2t dying because of the lack of support from more and more softwares I have this for you to consider. As time goes on, 2b2t has been the reason for many lovely life memories. I think that the community, with there being some real big brainers in there, will make their own software for 2b2t to run on. Now with the past of community made plugins aside, I think in a really desperate time for the server it would go through.
logging in with the client is different from the actual version that the server runs, and hypixel has so many features and stuff and is so different from the vanilla game that it may as well be considered its own version.

aether engine is for bedrock edition not java and aether engine requires deeper pockets than even hause has. if it did work it would only be affordable to hypixel

Mfw epearl and ec.me gets focus as a 1.16 anarchy server again... The player cap they advertise isn't viable, and when salc1 made a video that included ec.me as a totally unbiased possible alternative to 2b, the number of players skyrocketed for a couple hours with the server running at 4tps before or crashed. Besides epearl is kinda shit server owner, there's better 1.16 servers out there
It wasn’t running on 4 tps and it is completely viable with a 300 player limit as there’s an enormous amount of optimizations to make the server just as playable even at extremely low tps and calling sal’s video biased is just a coping mechanism for nether anarchy players because they didn’t get a shoutout that they believe they “deserve”

Why don't they buy a second server (world downloads exist) and then update that server with the world download. Both could run at the same time clearing some traffic and allowing people to play old or new minecraft if they'd like.

You can't add mods to 2b2t. 2b2t is a spigot / paper server. Mods only exist for forge.

Besides epearl is kinda shit server owner, there's better 1.16 servers out there

It wasn’t running on 4 tps and it is completely viable with a 300 player limit as there’s an enormous amount of optimizations to make the server just as playable even at extremely low tps and calling sal’s video biased is just a coping mechanism for nether anarchy players because they didn’t get a shoutout that they believe they “deserve”
