I believe music is a creative process, so if you try to bind it too much, then you won't end up doing anything good... and probably it would frustrate you as well... So... When I heard Pixeldust for the first time, I didn't even know that it's pony related. I loaded it in my mp4 and I enjoyed it a lot (and still enjoying!). Only later I figured it out. And then discover another awesome track - Flying With The Rainbow.
How can music be pony related? I mean - lyrics can, but melody? And if melody is awesome - than nothing else matters.
While I didnt like this song too much I'd say do what you want. A lot of people who have focused purely on MLP dont nowadays since we are 5 months into a 9 to 10 month gap in show anyways. As long as you dont go quitting pony music is all good since you have produced a lot of my favorite songs.
