there are so many stunningly beautiful little details in this movie. the way that dr. facilier’s shadow makes the wallpaper change to skulls in ‘friends on the other side’. the way the tarot reading foreshadows naveen becoming a frog (“it’s the green you need, and when i look into your future it’s the green that i see”). the fact that in the restaurant at the very end they placed an empty chair next to tiana’s mother to symbolise that her dad is there too in spirit. the unspoken implication that evangeline might have been a real firefly who died, and ray was talking to her the same way tiana talks to her dad. and so many more.
the only thing that lets it down for me personally is the iffy joke from charlotte at the end about naveen’s brother 😅 it’s a little uncomfy and i feel like lottie deserved a better ending that was more generous to her as a character. i love lottie so much, she’s such a genuinely sweet and supportive friend to tiana. they could’ve easily made her a lot more shallow. she’s ditzy but she’s got a big heart.
Ah dude, great choice! Seeing this film on the big screen was a breath of fresh air to me because I haven’t seen a 2D animated Disney film for a good long while back then. One of the best I’ve seen in cinema, hands down!
Beignets are square pieces of fried dough dusted very liberally with powdered sugar. In the movie you can see Tiana adding a twist to hers with the addition of some honey. One of those desserts that's the definition of 'simple but great'.
At 49:52 of the reaction, you'll notice that one of the Shadows represent a character from The Nightmare Before Christmas. A good movie to watch this month as it's Halloween themed.
Upon seeing this again, I can say that I like Ray better now. The second star appearing next to Evangeline when he passed was really sweet! The animation is absolutely breathtaking! I would totally watch this again! The twist they put on the prince and the frog story was awesome. If they stuck to the script of the original story it would not have translated to a film well. The songs are all really good and catchy! My 2 favorites are Are You Ready and Dig a Little Deeper. ALSO, ARREST DOTTY!!!!!!!!! WHAT THE HECK!!!!!!! She's so desperate to marry an actual prince she was genuinely considering a 6 (and a half) year old little brother of Naveen's. HECK NO!!!!!!!!
Oh man, this movie always made me so hungry along with Ratatouille. Never knew what that sugary stuff at the beggining was but always wanted to eat one lol
The return of hand drawn animation movie since Disney’s Home On The Range in 2004. I hope they will make more hand drawn animation Disney movies in the future.
Oh my gosh i never made the connection that the shadowman outbid her on the restaurant. Ive seen this movie a thousand times and it never even crossed my mind! Thats why he smirked evilly at his shadow at the diner when Tiana got the money. I never really understood why he gave his shadow that smirk… now I know!! Mind blown!!! 🤯🤯
@@twist58 It sounds plausible. Though, I believe it was obvious that Dr. Facilier just came up with his main scheme for the plot of the film. Judging by the way he was making little money from his voodoo stand, it seemed that he wasn’t too wealthy like Big Daddy. His goal was to snuff out Big Daddy to get his fortune through his deceptive tactics. So, I’m not certain that Dr. Facilier was behind the outbidding of the restaurant. Otherwise, the subject would’ve been made clear in the confrontation scene with him and Tiana.
@@SpacialRend7 It was a petty thing for them to do, because the movie still did well, just not as well as the 3D movies were doing (because 3D was what was in vogue (and still is) at the time). They pick maximum greed over artistic vision.
Also.. FYI Ponybro. Those "friends on the other side" are demon from the underworld. So when they took Shadowman away.. They took him straight to Hell.
Not gonna lie, I could not stand this movie for the longest time. And it's still one of my least favorites. Definitely my least favorite Disney princess movie. I like Sofia the First series better than I like this. Until recently I could not pin-point why I didn't like this movie. But I recently re-watched it (and someone else's reaction.) I then realized I HATE the accents. I have trauma surrounding the accents. As a teenager just starting out on the internet, people I would meet would ask where I am from. They would then drop their voice into an accent similar to the accents in this film when they found out I was from KY. Later when I got jobs. People with this accent would annoy me to know end. Because they would talk too fast run their words together and I would have to ask them to repeat themselves a lot. Then, at one job, and this sealed the deal, I was working at an oxygen company as a Patient Care Coordinator. I would take phone calls and dispatch oxygen truck drivers. Now I got a lot of angry callers. But The ones with this accent (from Louisiana) seemed to pierce my soul when they would yell at me. I literally can't explain why these accents (especially when they are yelling at me) have such an effect on me. The only explanation I can think of is the teasing when I was a teen. Because it was the first time I actually started talking to people on a regular basis and they kept doing the same thing. Along with not being able to understand plain English when the person would talk fast. Idk. Anyway. When I re-watched it and realized this I stopped 5 minutes in and thought for a while. I then restarted it over with the mentality that I was gonna only pay attention to the story. I surprisingly enjoyed it. Although, Ray the lightning bug's accent annoyed me the most. So the emotional scenes with him were somewhat dampened because I couldn't get past it. Maybe, with this viewing I will be able to look past even that. Will comment after I watch.
@@saffronbaffron5829 It takes half the movie to get the ball rolling and not every major character is introduced compared to the other ones which do all of that in 10 minutes or less. Why would I take it back?
Those desserts were Beignets, it's like a donut but so much more. Also I dont think that the Shadowman's plan was to kill the whole town. I think he intended to gain a huge portion of LeBoufs money to become a sort of crooked loan shark. Granting people money or material goods that they'd be desperate for in exchange for their souls which would go to his "friends on the other side" to pay off his debt for borrowing their power.
Princess And The Frog is one of my all time favorite animated Disney films, it's such an underrated masterpiec!!!

@@twist58 Well it wasn't really confirmed, but it sure does make a lot of sense
