Yeeeah, AJ did go WAY overboard in this episode, but it's important to remember, she's so overprotective for a good reason. She already experienced the loss of family, in the past. She doesn't want it to happen again.
I think they did bring Apple Jack to an illogical extreme this episode, but I'd like to think that it is because she feels like she has to make up for Apple Blooms parents not being there.
As someone with 2 little sisters, I very much understand AJs not wanting to accept that Apple Bloom is growing up and independent. It's hard, but it has to happen
AJ's overprotective tendencies were really exaggerated here, but I guess it was kinda funny. My first time watching, however, it kind of had me worried about where the show was going, though. A lot of shows that go on for a long time just have characters watered down to a caricature of themselves in the later seasons, and I thought that they might start going down that route here. MLP never got quite to that point, thankfully.
I saw a video theory, that confirms that this creature from fire swamp was the one who killed AJ’s parents. Basically there’s a book or a movie, where the main character saves his lover Buttercup from the fire swamp. Plus AJ knew EXACTLY what to do to defeat that creature.
I find it funny how I refused to be left alone when I was a pre-teen while everyone who was my age begged for it. And then one day, I decided it was old enough and now I don't mind it
If I was writing this episode I would have apple bloom make it all the way. And finding clever ways to deal with the monster. I would show scenes of Applejack passing by stuff. And have them arrived at the same time. But with Apple bloom just a little bit ahead. Just for applejack to be shock.
While I don’t think it’s an awful episode this is definitely one of the episodes this season I least enjoy. I think Applejack was being a bit exaggerated here and the moral could have handled a lot better.
this is pretty bad I guess. In my opinion this episode should of been more about rainbow dash and scootaloo. it would of been less creepy that way knowing applejack is appleblooms blood.

24 likesThey kinda wrote AJ a bit wonky here, although I'd like to think she was just utterly terrified of making the delivery more than about her sister.

“MLP never got quite to that point, thankfully.”
0 likesUntil season 8, that is…
@Verserer Gred Yeah. Thank goodness they didn't go the way of Spongebob. I can look back and remember pretty much the whole show fondly.
11 likes<3 for two pretty amazing sisters, and a a bit of a complex lesson about growing up. Also, yay that you're still enjoying the series. :D
14 likesNice job outsmarting the chimera AJ. I bet RD's jaw would have dropped if she saw you this for herself.

5 likesHoof trimmings. The really weird thing about them is that they're the same color as their coats!
lets just hope that the ricotta wasn't made with goat's milk.
2 likesIf so then AppleJack just played a twisted prank on the chimera.

Something like the loss of her parents, perhaps…

0 likesI didn't like this episode. Applejack comes off as stupid. The premise is a little repetitive. The chimera is really cool.
