Also warning peeps dd is very low level, and will fuck your shit up if you do it wrong. Most and distributions include a usb creator tool, However kali Linux does not include this so you can also use Etcher in Linux or rufus in Windows to build these USB boot images, simpler and safer
You also want to look up persistence for kali linux too as the dd and etcher will make a read only live usb drive

If you care about linux and want to have some good experience with it.. Then use Arch or arch based distro (like: Manjaro).
